Director Manish Saini’s Gujarati Film ‘Gandhi & Co.’ was adjudged as the second best Indian feature film at the 13th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes) held from March 3 to 10 in Bengaluru..
The film, starring Darshan Jariwala, Reyaan Shah, Hiranya Zinzuwadia, Jayesh More, Druma Mehta, Sharad Vyas and Dhyani Jani, was produced by Mahesh Danannavar. The film has won the second-best Indian Cinema Award among 200 films from 55 countries. The 13th edition of Bengaluru International Film Festival is being organized by the KCA for the Government of Karnataka. Biffes is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (FIAPF).
‘Gandhi & Co.’ was part of the Film Bazaar Recommends 2021 List among many Asian films conducted by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. ‘Gandhi & Co’ was the only film from Gujarati to be part of the FBR 2021 list as well as the Biffes 2022.
‘Gandhi & Co’ is a light-hearted Gujarati comedy film which depicts Gandhian values of honesty and harmony to the present-day society. This film is a coming-of-age family drama meant for the family audience. Earlier, Manish Saini had directed National Award-Winning Gujarati film ‘Dhh’. This is his second film as writer and director. The film was produced by Mahesh Danannavar who produced Gujarati film “Shu Thayu?!” which was a blockbuster hit released under the banner of MD Media Corp
“It’s my honour to receive an award from the Governor of Karnataka. Being from Bengaluru, my hometown and winning an award for a Gujarati Film where I belong, means a lot to me,” Producer Mahesh Danannavar said after receiving the award from Governor of Karnataka Thaawar Chand Gehlot along with the director Manish Saini.
Commenting on this award, Director Manish Saini said, “We are busy in giving meaningful content to the society. We are very happy that our efforts are being recognized at the festival. We hope that more and more people will watch the film and appreciate it.”
KS Ramesh, world renowned Magician and Actor who was part of the festival Jury said, “This is the wonderful cinema which brings back lots of nostalgia and childhood memories. I loved the film and enjoyed every scene of the film. This film is brilliantly made, and I congratulate the entire team for their efforts.”
National Award-Winning Actor Darshan Jariwala, one of the star casts, said, “This was the first International film festival for ‘Gandhi & Co’ and winning an award is very special moment for all of us.”
As it already started receiving invitations from around the world, ‘Gandhi & Co’ would be part of many forthcoming international film festivals across the globe this year.
