The 13th edition of Tribal youth exchange programme organized by the union government begins in Chennai on Wednesday, said N S Manoranjan, State Director, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry UT, Nehru Yuva Kendra here on Tuesday.
Tamil Nadu Adi Dravida Welfare Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj will inaugurate the programme in the presence of South Chennai MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian and Velacherry MLA Aassan Maulaana at the Youth Hostel in Chennai. CRPF DIG Avadi will also be present, he said.

Nearly 200 tribal youths along with 20 CRPF escorts from Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh will participate in the programme.
The programmes were conceptualized in such a way to educate them the current affairs and bring them into the mainstream, Manoranjan said.
The tribal youth need to be positively engaged and properly educated with exposure enough to overcome their limitations and inhibitions, he added.
- The youths will be interacting with the Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, an appointment has been sought with Raj Bhavan.
The Nehru Yuva Kendra, functions under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs, has been running the National Tribal Youth Welfare Programme for the past 12 years.
He said the Tribal Youth Exchange was being held to show the tribal youth the developed parts of the country and to prevent them from getting involved in extremist activities.
He said that it would help in preventing extremist ideologies among the tribal youth, creating awareness about nationalism and highlighting the modern and economic development of other states.
The youths will be interacting with the Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, an appointment has been sought with Raj Bhavan.
As part of the programme the youths would be taken to CRPF station at Avadi, where they would be briefed on the activities of the personnel and their tasks during disasters etc.
Sivakumar, Deputy Director of Press Information Bureau was also present.
