Stating that a total of 15 murders have taken place in the last 36 hours, former Tamil Nadu CM and AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami came down heavily at the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government and MK Stalin over the law and order situation in the state.
1/3 pic.twitter.com/LqRGBpAzh5— Edappadi K Palaniswami – Say No To Drugs & DMK (@EPSTamilNadu) August 24, 2022
AIADMK leader EPS said that it was shameful that the police department, under Stalin’s direct supervision, was dysfunctional.
“MK Stalin, the Chief Minister, said that he was directly monitoring law and order. Is this the way to maintain law and order in Tamil Nadu? Due to this, people are agitated. Stalin should be held responsible,” said EPS.

- I don’t worry about those people who do not have self-respect: MK Stalin
EPS, in a statement, said, “A total of 15 murders have taken place in the last 36 hours! Where is Tamil Nadu going? I have highlighted the poor law and order system in this DMK regime many times in the last 15 months. But, this Chief Minister, who has no administrative skills for preventing crimes, is immersed in publicity. Today, the whole of Tamil Nadu is turning into a killing field and people are frozen in panic.”
He added, “Times have changed when the Tamil Nadu Police Department was compared to the Scottish Police Department, and today it has become an incompetent police department that is unable to control law and order.”
Incidentally, MK Stalin, while giving a speech in Coimbatore, had taken a potshot at the AIADMK and other political parties that have been criticising the DMK.
The CM said, “Some people just step out of their homes to criticise the government and then they go back in again. But they don’t know what people think. The benefits that the people are enjoying under this government. Some say that the DMK has not been fulfilling its poll promises. These people have not interacted with the citizens. I do not pay heed to the criticism of these kinds of people.”
Stalin also quoted Periyar and said, “I don’t worry about those people who do not have self-respect.”
