Adani University has successfully concluded ShikshaVid, a five-day intensive Faculty Development Programme (FDP) that reinforced the growing national focus on teaching excellence, academic leadership and industry-aligned education.
Held from December 22 to 27 at the university’s Shantigram campus, ShikshaVid brought together faculty members from diverse disciplines for immersive engagement with contemporary pedagogical practices. The programme was designed to strengthen classroom effectiveness and prepare educators to meet evolving student expectations in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Empowered Teachers at the Core of Nation-Building
Delivering the inaugural address, Vasant Gadhavi, Executive Director, Adani Foundation, underlined the critical role of educators in shaping the nation’s future.
“Empowered teachers are central to nation-building and sustainable development. Continuous learning, adaptability and leadership are essential qualities for educators in a rapidly changing academic ecosystem,” Gadhavi said.

His address set the tone for the programme, highlighting faculty capability as a cornerstone of educational transformation.
Reimagining the Role of the Guru
Provost Dr Dhaval Pujara reflected on the evolving role of teachers in modern higher education.
“A Guru is one who guides students, understands their challenges, continuously renews knowledge and uplifts learners beyond classroom instruction,” Dr Pujara said.
He emphasised that faculty members today are expected to act as mentors and facilitators of holistic development, rather than remaining confined to traditional content delivery.
Pedagogy, Technology and Leadership in Focus
Over five days, ShikshaVid covered a broad spectrum of themes, including pedagogical innovation, active and project-based learning, leadership and mentoring, emotional well-being in academic workplaces, communication skills, and effective implementation of NEP 2020.
Participants also engaged in sessions on the application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in teaching, case writing, and strengthening industry–academia collaboration. Interactive workshops, hands-on activities and participant-led presentations encouraged peer learning and reflective practice.
Strengthening the Foundation of Higher Education
The conclusion of ShikshaVid highlighted the increasing emphasis on faculty development as a critical pillar of higher education reform in India. The programme reflected a broader recognition that sustained investment in teacher capacity-building is essential to enhancing classroom outcomes, student engagement and institutional readiness for the next phase of India’s academic journey.
