The 15th edition of Norway Tamil Film Festival Awards will be held in Oslo in Norway on April 27-28 to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Tamil film industry, announced Vaseeharan Sivalingam, Festival Director on Thursday.
“Norway Tamil Film Festival is proudly entering the 15th successful year, an achievement of its own. I, the festival Director, stand at the peak of pride that directors, actors, technicians and all those who are connected to the cinema field had given us immense support during the past 14 years. A big thank you to all,” said Vaseeharan.
“The Norwegian Tamil Film Festival selects the best Tamil films released every year and awards them. This film festival, which is being held in a grand and befitting manner for the last fourteen years, is receiving overwhelming response of the world. We are going to give awards to Tamil movies released last year in 2023. On this Thai Pongal day, we are very happy to announce that the 15th edition of Norway Tamil Film Festival Awards for Tamil Movies produced in Tamil Nadu will be held this year on April 27 and 28, in Oslo,” added Vaseeharan.
As a honour of the ‘Captain’, commencing with the 15th Norway Tamil Film Festival we have rechristened the ‘Kalaichchigaram’ Virudhu as “Puratchi Kalaingar Vijayakanth Virudhu’. We are proud to remember our irreplaceable screen artist with great love and broad humanity through this award, the Festival Director said.
During these 14 years, a number of directors actors and others have honoured our festival and had come to receive their awards. I could not name all of them because it is a long list. This 15th year is a mile stone for the festival and we would like to welcome as many awardees as possible to come and receive your awards personally. An award is a recognition for the person who receive that and after all he/she has worked haed for such a recognition. We would like to welcome old and new faces to come and enjoy the festival, the statement added.
Speaking about the selection criteria, the Festival Director said, “This year for the first time we have decided to avoid most of the films that showed extreme violence although they were blöck busters, in order to promote more films which are needed to create a healthy society. We also wanted to give recognition for young and growing artistes if not fully at least partly. We selected films that are showing daily occurrences, simple house hold problems and social problems together with historic records to make awareness for the public.”
