Strengthening Gujarat’s position as India’s renewable energy powerhouse, Oyster Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd has commissioned the second phase of its flagship wind project in Dayapar, bringing 52.8 MW of clean energy online and reinforcing the state’s pivotal role in powering the country’s industrial decarbonisation drive.
The commissioning marks Oyster Renewable’s official entry into Gujarat and represents a significant milestone in the company’s ambitious 315.6 MW solar-wind hybrid project being developed exclusively for Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL), India’s largest stainless-steel manufacturer.
Commercial operations for the newly commissioned facility commenced on July 30, 2026.
The second phase comprises 16 state-of-the-art wind turbines with a combined capacity of 52.8 MW, representing an investment of approximately ₹385 crore. The project forms part of the company’s ₹725-crore Gujarat wind development, which will eventually comprise 30 turbines with a total installed capacity of 99 MW.
The Gujarat wind project complements the 216 MW solar component in Madhya Pradesh, taking the integrated hybrid project capacity to 315.6 MW. The overall investment in the project exceeds ₹2,000 crore, including ₹132 crore committed by Jindal Stainless.
The newly commissioned facility has secured compliance with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission’s Indian Electricity Grid Code (2023), along with the Central Electricity Authority’s Technical Standards for Connectivity, Communication and Safety Regulations, confirming its readiness for commercial operations.
Speaking on the milestone, Siddharth Bhatia, Managing Director & CEO, Oyster Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd, said: “This marks Oyster’s entry into Gujarat, and this second phase of commissioning takes our wind capacity in the state a step closer to full completion. Gujarat’s strong wind resource makes this a valuable addition to the project’s generation mix, and once fully operational, this facility is expected to avoid close to 92,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually. It’s a significant step towards our target of a 3.5 GW pipeline. We remain on track to bring the remaining capacity online as planned.”
The remaining 14 wind turbines are scheduled to be commissioned in phases, taking the Gujarat facility to its full 99 MW capacity and providing a stronger renewable energy backbone for Jindal Stainless’ long-term sustainability and carbon-reduction commitments.
The project underscores the increasing adoption of customised hybrid renewable energy solutions by India’s commercial and industrial (C&I) sector, enabling energy-intensive industries to reduce dependence on conventional power while improving environmental performance.
With Gujarat continuing to emerge as one of India’s premier wind energy destinations, Oyster Renewable’s latest investment is expected to further strengthen the state’s renewable infrastructure while supporting the nation’s transition towards cleaner, more sustainable industrial growth.
