Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday felicitated nine Income Tax officers from Income Tax Department, Tamilnadu & Puducherry at the 165th Income Tax Day celebrations held in New Delhi.
The Finance Minister issued certificates and medals to them. Among the awardees, four Officers were recognized for their Meritorious Services, four Officers and staffs for excellence in service and one Officer for achievement in the field of social causes, a release from the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax said.
The awardees are – Dr. Sibichen K. Mathew, PDIT (Investigation); V Vivekanandan, Principal CIT; V. Govindarajan, JDIT(System); Lal Manish Nath Shah Deo, ITO; S Subramanian, ITO; T R Mala, ITO; R. Chitra, Senior PS; Dr. G Gayathri, Inspector and Galla Srinivas Rao, Inspector.
The Officers recognized for Meritorious Services were commended for their exceptional contributions during their service career in areas such as taxpayer outreach, capacity building, technological innovation, training and enhancing human resource quality etc. alongside their regular duties. The awards for excellence were given to those who made significant contributions during previous year through innovative and out-of-the-box thinking, effectively handling challenging situations during search and seizure operations, and performing exceptionally well during survey operations. Additionally, one officer was honored for her remarkable contribution to society during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, the statement added.
