Of the total 364 Shramik special trains that were run across the country till Saturday midnight, as many as 167 originated from Gujarat, in which over two lakh migrant workers were ferried to their home states, a senior government official said on Sunday.

Ashwani Kumar, Secretary to Gujarat chief minister, while sharing the data related to the Shramik trains that were run from different states till Saturday midnight, said that around 46 percent of these trains started from Gujarat, the highest for a state.
As per the directions of Hon'ble PM @NarendraModi ji, Railways is fully geared up to run 300 Shramik Special trains everyday at short notice since the last six days.

He said that the trains that started their journey from Gujarat, carried over two lakh migrants to different states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
“Till Saturday midnight, 45 Shramik special trains originated from Maharashtra, 36 from Punjab, 25 from Telangana, 24 from Kerala, 20 from Rajasthan, 14 from Karnataka, and 11 from Haryana,” he said.

In addition to this, 56 more trains will carry around 67,200 migrant workers to their home states from different parts of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Sabarkantha, Viramgam, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot. Some of these trains have already started their journey early on Sunday, while some others will leave by Sunday evening, he said.
“With this, the number of migrant workers reaching their home states from Gujarat would be 2,68,800,” Kumar said.
“It is the result of the government’s preparation and commitment to ensure the migrants safe return to their home states,” he added.

Of the 56 trains running on Sunday, 42 are going to Uttar Pradesh, five to Madhya Pradesh, three each to Bihar and Odisha, and one each to Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Jharkhand, he said.
Monday is the last day for availing free food distribution
The state governmennnt on Sunday said that Monday, May 11, 2020, is the last day for availing free food grains. Cardholders with the last digit as 0 or 9 will be able to avail of the food grains tomorrow. The distribution of food grains will continue on Tuesday, May 12 for those cardholders who could not avail of the food grains on the assigned dates due to unavoidable circumstances. The dates for free food grain distribution for Ahmedabad will be announced very soon, said a senior government official.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had announced for providing a second round of free food grain distribution for APL-1 cardholders on May 1, 2020.
The decision covered around 61 lakh families —2.5 crore APL-1 cardholders. The distribution began on May 7. 25 lakh families have already been covered under this except the cardholders in Ahmedabad.
Secretary to CM Ashwani Kumar said, “The state government will cover a total of 30 lakh APL-1 card beneficiaries by today evening. Around 30% well to do APL-1 cardholders have given up their privileges based on the Chief Minister’s appeal. The free food grain distribution is done following safety protocols.”

Talking about the pro-farmer oriented decision of the CM, the Secretary said, “The Chief Minister had announced to reopen APMCs in Gujarat on April 15, 2020, to ensure that the farmers can sell their produce and earn a decent revenue through the same. A majority of the APMCs became operational by April 20. 32 lakh 51 thousand quintals of agri produce has been sold by farmers so far. This includes 11 lakh 28 thousand quintals of wheat, 7 lakh 86 thousand quintals of castor, 1 lakh 56 thousand quintals of cottonseed, 1 lakh 66 thousand quintals of mustard, 1 lakh 20 thousand quintals of gram and 61 thousand 660 quintals of groundnuts.”

People must avoid overcrowding and maintain social distancing: DGP
Director-General of Police Shivanand Jha said that the public must cooperate and avoid gatherings as well as maintain social distance.
Those migrant labourers who have set on foot to reach their native places must cooperate with the administration and stay put in shelter homes. They shall move only upon receiving authorized pass or permit and shall stay in quarantine after reaching native places.

Jha added that two offenses were registered on Saturday against people for forging fake passes for travel. They were nine people travelling to Kodinar in Gir-Somnath district from Ahmedabad. In another case, a vehicle has been detained and a case has been registered for ferrying workers from Rajkot to Maharashtra.
42 police officers, 30 cops join duty after recovering from corona: Jha
The virus has not spared anyone and had affected 42 police officers who have fought back the virus and have returned to their duty. Apart from that, 30 policemen who came in contact with Corona-affected people were home quarantined, they have completed their quarantine period and are back on their duties.

Jha said that 173 crimes have been registered through drones. A total of 22,315 people have been arrested for 12,051 offenses to date. Meanwhile, under the Smart City and VISWAS project, 93 individuals have been arrested for 97 crimes reported through the CCTV network tallying up to 4,082 individuals for 2,953 crimes. Additionally, 20 crimes have been registered so far and 19 people have been arrested through CCTV’s in residential societies.
Similarly, for spreading fake messages and rumours through social media, so far 734 crimes have been registered and 1,498 accused have been arrested. 09 accounts have been blocked. 215 and 44 offenses have been registered, respectively, through videography and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR). 1,119 offenses have been registered so far with mounted cameras special ‘Prahari’ Van.
Cases that have been registered so far include 2,009 of the violation of lockdown, 841 against those violating quarantine, and 626 other cases. 5,736 vehicles have been seized in the state, added Jha. Police have released 2,12,376 detained vehicles so far.
