President Droupadi Murmu on Monday awarded one President’s Tatrakshak Medal (PTM) and five Tatrakshak Medals (TM) to the Indian Coast Guard personnel on the eve of Independence Day.
Out of total five such medals, two personnel have been awarded in recognition of feats and meritorious acts during their active service in Gujarat.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Defence, the awards were given to recongnise their “act of conspicuous gallantry, exceptional devotion to duty and distinguished or meritorious service.”

DIG KR Deepak Kumar has been awarded Tatrakshak Medal for his three decades of meritorious and unblemished service in ICG capped by his singular achievements in Operational and Administrative spheres as the erstwhile ICG District Commander – 15 (North Gujarat) which is considered to be operationally most active and sensitive due to its strategic location.
Commandant (JG) Anurag Shukla has been reckoned with Tatrakshak Medal (Gallantry) for his leadership as the Commanding Officer of ICG ship in back to back anti-narcotic operations under challenging conditions that resulted in seizure of large quantity of drugs otherwise destined for Indian shores.
These joint operations with ATS Gujarat also resulted in apprehension of Pakistani boats and perpetrators together with arms ammunition.
In addition, Sunil Joshi, IPS, SSP ATS (Gujarat) has been commended by the Director General of Indian Coast Guard for his instrumental role in the Joint Operations undertaken by the premier agency with ICG in maritime zones off Gujarat.
