The robust performance was driven by a 27% year-on-year expansion in operational capacity to 20.1 GW, including a 4,327-MW greenfield capacity addition over the past year.
During Q1FY27 alone, AGEL added 848 MW of capacity.
Green Power generation surges as sales hit 13,657 million units
Energy sales increased 30% year-on-year to 13,657 million units, supported by fresh greenfield capacity and strong operational performance across the portfolio.
AGEL’s operational capacity now stands at 20.1 GW, putting the company on track towards its long-term 50-GW renewable-energy capacity target.
The company added 4,327 MW of greenfield capacity year-on-year, comprising:
- 3,051 MW of solar capacity, including 2,662 MW in Khavda, Gujarat, and 389 MW in Rajasthan;
- 684 MW of wind capacity in Khavda; and
- 592 MW of solar-wind hybrid capacity in Khavda.
The company’s advanced O&M ecosystem, powered by its Energy Network Operation Center, enables real-time monitoring of renewable-energy plants across India.
The technology-driven approach has helped enhance plant availability and electricity generation while reducing operating and maintenance costs, contributing to the industry-leading 94% EBITDA margin.
Khavda emerges as the battery of India’s clean-energy future
AGEL commissioned 1,972 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity at Khavda during Q1FY27, taking its total installed BESS capacity to 3,551 MWh.
The deployment is among the world’s largest single-location BESS installations.
AGEL is on track to add more than 10,000 MWh of BESS capacity by FY27, moving closer to its long-term goal of 50,000 MWh by 2030.
The company is steadily building a future-ready renewable-energy ecosystem that combines large-scale solar, wind, hybrid generation and energy storage to provide greater reliability, flexibility and grid stability as renewable penetration rises.
‘Strengthening long-term energy security’
Ashish Khanna, CEO, Adani Green Energy, said:
“We commenced FY27 with strong momentum, underpinned by disciplined execution that enabled us to surpass the 20 GW milestone, alongside a strengthening demand environment. As power demand in India rebounded during the quarter, our expanding renewable energy portfolio enabled us to reliably meet the nation’s growing clean energy requirements while continuing to deliver industry-leading operational performance.
“On the energy storage front, we commissioned 1,972 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity during the quarter, taking our total installed BESS capacity to 3,551 MWh through one of the world’s largest single-location deployments. As renewable penetration rises and power demand continues to grow, storage will play a critical role in ensuring round-the-clock reliability and grid stability. Together with our renewable generation portfolio and storage capacities including pumped hydro storage initiatives, we are building a resilient, flexible and future-ready round-the-clock renewable ecosystem that will help accelerate India’s energy transition while strengthening long-term energy security.”
30 GW Khavda vision gains momentum
AGEL is steadily progressing towards developing the world’s largest renewable-energy plant at Khavda, Gujarat.
Spread across 538 sq km—nearly five times the area of Paris—the massive project is designed to create a global benchmark for ultra-large-scale renewable-energy development.
The operational capacity at Khavda has surged to 10.3 GW, compared with 5.6 GW a year ago.
The operational portfolio currently stands at 10,262 MW of solar, wind and hybrid capacity, including 9,520 MW of AGEL’s generation capacity and 742 MW established for other Adani Group companies.
With robust manpower deployment, a localised supply chain and advanced technologies such as robotic solar-module installation, AGEL is targeting 30 GW of renewable-energy capacity at Khavda by 2029.
ESG leadership adds another dimension to growth
AGEL retained the highest CRISIL ESG Score in the Indian power sector for the fifth consecutive year in FY26, with its score improving from 66 to 69.
The company was also:
- ranked among the Top 10 companies globally in ESG evaluations conducted by seven leading ESG rating agencies;
- recognised by FTSE Russell as the No. 1 company globally in the alternative electricity segment in its ESG rating for the second consecutive year;
- awarded the highest sectoral ESG Risk Rating score of 77 by ESG Risk Assessment & Insights Ltd., a SEBI-registered Category I ESG Rating Agency;
- recognised with the Clean Power Generation Award at the Reuters Energy Industry Awards 2026 in New York; and
- successful in achieving and sustaining its Net Water Positive goal across 100% of its operational portfolio, with a water balance index of 2.14, representing a 30% year-on-year improvement.
With capacity crossing 20 GW, energy sales climbing sharply, battery storage accelerating and Khavda emerging as a global clean-energy landmark, AGEL’s Q1FY27 performance signals a decisive shift in the scale and architecture of India’s renewable-energy transition.
The next phase of the energy revolution is no longer only about generating more green power. It is about building the capacity, storage, technology and resilience to deliver clean energy whenever the nation needs it.
