AHMEDABAD, JULY 15
A preliminary camp for Artificial Limb Replacement was conducted by the Indian Army at Ramsar (Barmer), the border areas of Rajasthan in which 207 persons were screened. The measurements for prosthesis were taken and the artificial limbs will be fabricated and provided to these needy specially abled individuals. The requirements of wheelchairs, blind sticks and crutches were also taken for provisioning.

As part of Phase-I, high quality and comfortable artificial limbs will be customised to the individual need of every patient free of cost. This will help the individuals to lead a normal life, which is otherwise extremely difficult considering the remoteness of these far flung areas in Thar Desert and the infrastructure that is available there.

In Phase-II, distribution and fitment of the limbs will be carried out within approximately two months.
