The five-day “Vessel Search Technique’’ training course begins in Chennai on Monday. The training programme was conducted for the officers of the Indian Coast Guard, Customs Officers and Coastal Security Group of Officers of Tamil Nadu Police.
The training programme was conducted by the Mobile Training Team of the Australian Border Force in coordination with the Headquarters of the Coast Guard Region (East) from February 24 to February 28. This training is a part of strengthening International Co-operation between the two countries.
Inspector General S Paramesh, PTM, TM, Commander, Coast Guard Region (East), Ms. Susan Grace, Australian Consul General, Chennai, Mr Tim Sheppard, Counsellor Australian Border Force (ABF), New Delhi and Officials from the Indian Coast Guard, Customs, Coastal Security Group (Tamil Nadu Police) participated.
In line with the joint efforts of cementing close maritime relations, the incumbent Vessel Search Training Course by the Australian Border Force Training team consisting of qualified Instructors is a major step in that direction. This training programme will bolster efforts of both countries for realizing common national maritime objectives of ensuring safety and security at sea. The joint training course will yield fruitful results and go a long way in strengthening the multi-dimensional maritime capabilities of the two services, says a release from Defence PRO.
