The COVID-19 tally in Gujarat rose by 42 on Sunday, which took its overall infection count to 8,24,242, the health department said.

No fresh death was reported during the day and the toll currently stands at 10,073, it said.
As 262 patients got discharged from hospitals on Sunday, the recovery count climbed to 8,13,238, the department said in a release.
Gujarat’s recovery rate rose to 98.66 percent, and the number of active cases fell below the 1,000-mark to 931, it added.
Surat district reported 13 new cases, Ahmedabad seven, Rajkot and Vadodara four each, and Bhavnagar and Jamnagar two each, among others.
As many as 2,32,949 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in Gujarat on Sunday, taking the total number of doses administered so far across the state to 2,78,60,422, it said.
Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu reported two new cases. With this, the UT”s COVID-19 tally rose to 10,558. A total 10,529 patients have been discharged so far in the UT, where the number of active cases now stands at 25. There have been four coronavirus fatalities in the UT so far, officials said.
