Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore on Monday said in the Rajya Sabha that a total of 4,93,136 pucca houses had been built in Gujarat in the last three years under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U).
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has been providing the Central assistance under the scheme since June 25, 2015 for providing pucca houses to the eligible beneficiaries in urban areas.
In Gujarat total of 4,93,136 Pucca houses have been built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) ‘Housing for All’ Mission in the last three years. In Gujarat, central assistance worth a total of Rs. 2398.44 crore has been utilised for building Pucca houses in the last three years. At the national level, total 39,63,232 Pucca houses have been built in the 28 States and 08 Union Territories, and central assistance of Rs. 47,332 crore has been utilised since FY2020-21.
The information was provided by Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, while replying to a question raised by RS MP Parimal Nathwani.
According to the statement of the minister, the scheme has three Centrally Sponsored Components (CSS) namely, Beneficiary-Led Individual house Construction or Enhancement (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), and “In-situ” Slum Redevelopment (ISSR), and one Central Sector Component (CS) namely, Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS). The CSS components of the scheme cover beneficiaries from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) with an annual household income of up to ₹ 3 lakh whereas the CS component of the scheme covers beneficiaries having an annual household income of up to ₹ 18 lakh, as per the statement.
Nathwani wanted to know about the number of Pucca houses that have been built under PMAY (U) for providing housing facility for the economically weaker section in urban areas in the last three years; and the State-wise details of financial assistance provided and utilised by Government under various Centrally supported schemes over the last three years.
According to the statement, under PMAY-U, a total of 118.90 lakh houses involving Central Assistance of ₹ 2.00 lakh crore (approximately) have been sanctioned. Out of the sanctioned houses, 112.22 lakh houses have been grounded for construction; of which 75.31 lakh houses have been completed/delivered as on 10.07.2023. Central Assistance of ₹ 1.47 lakh crore has been released under the scheme till date, as per the statement.
As per the statement of the minister, the implementation period of PMAY-U which was earlier up to 31.03.2022, has since been extended up to 31.12.2024, except for CLSS vertical, without changing its funding pattern and implementation methodology to complete all houses sanctioned under the scheme till the scheme period i.e. up to 31.03.2022.
