Five suspected red sanders smugglers hailing from Tamil Nadu were charred to death in a road mishap involving three vehicles in neighbouring Kadapa district, 150 km from here on Monday, police said.
Kadapa police said that all the victims were occupants of the SUV that was gutted, while some burnt red sanders logs were also found in the vehicle.
Both the car and the SUV were gutted in the accident also involving a truck, the cause of which was under investigation, police said without divulging further details about the occupants of the other vehicles.
