Sriharini (10), Keerthana (11), Aadhya (11),  Sai Bhavani M (18) and Sanjana (18), all students of Urhythmix Dance Studio, JP Nagar, Bengaluru, have won Gold medal for India in the 2023 Dance World Cup event in the Senior Small Group National and Folklore Dance Category held at the Theatre Circo located in Braga Portugal on July 5th, 2023 for their splendid Bharatanatyam performance.

All the girls have been taking part in various cultural events in their school as well as the dance competitions in Bengaluru and have won many medals.

The kids were trained by Guru Vidushi Samyukta Shankar, the founder of Sachidananda Arts Foundation, Uttarahalli, Bengaluru.

Sharing their experience, the winning team said, “It was really exciting to perform and bring laurels to our Mother Land. We have been taking part in various dance competitions right from the age of 4. Once we step on stage our goals used to be to give our best as we have been doing what we love the most. We owe our team’s success to the reverent guru and our parents for motivating us to excel in cultural activities. Learning is a life-long process which we will continue for-ever. Practising this ancient dance form helps us in maintaining our health and mind very sharp and thus we do concentrate in our academics with same vigour as dance. ”

Dance World Cup is the greatest all-genre dance competition in the world for children and young adults around the world. Over 120,000 competitors from 62 countries compete at their country qualifiers and over 6,000 of the best dancers around the world represent their country and compete at the World finals each year. Finishing in the top 10 at the World Cup Finals is an accolade and winning a Gold medal is a very prestigious and proud moment for the participants and their country.
