Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama inaugurated the day-long blood donation camp at NCC Group Headquarters, Ahmedabad. Earlier he was presented with a Guard of Honour on his arrival.

Chudasama paid floral tributes to the bravehearts of Kargil War. He said, “The Indian army showed “exemplary courage and dedication and unflinching determination” in Operation Vijay. This momentous victory of Indian soldiers “who went beyond their call of duty” will remain in India’s “memory forever.”

The minister lauded the contribution of NCC cadets and officers to the uplift of social causes. He also interacted with the cadets, BJ Medical College and the Indian Red Cross Society staff and praised their efforts.

Major General Arvind Kapoor, Additional Director General, NCC, Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu thanked the Education Minister for his continued and wholehearted support in all activities of the Gujarat NCC Directorate.

The Major General said, “In continuation with the various events to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, Gujarat NCC Directorate organized the Kargil Vijay Diwas Blood Donation Drive today to express gratitude and show solidarity with the valiant soldiers of the Indian Army, who sacrificed their lives towards safeguarding the honour of the country and those who are presently safeguarding the borders. “

The ADG added that as a run up to this function, around 30,000 handmade greeting cards prepared by NCC cadets of Gujarat were flagged off on July 17 by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and were sent to Udhampur under the aegis of the Western Railways on July 18. These cards were received by Lieutenant General YK Joshi,  GOC-in-C, Headquarters  Northern Command on July 20 and were distributed  to the  soldiers on the Kargil Borders between July 20- 25. This goodwill gesture from the NCC cadets of Gujarat, as part of the Northern Command’s #IndiaSalutesKargilHeroes, has been much appreciated by the soldiers and has added happiness and colour to their day on the various posts.

With this the Phase 5 of the #EkMaiSauKeLiye Campaign,  “Kargil Ke Veeron Ko Gujarat Ka Aabhaar”, ended today. Phase 6 of the #EkMaiSauKeLiye Campaign will soon commence, as part of the social service and community development responsibility of the NCC cadets towards nation building.
