Fifty-two golfers teed off in the fourth round of the 11-round Gulmohar Golfer of the Year (GGOY) 2022, which took place at Gulmohar Greens-Golf & Country Club on Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24. GGOY is a part of the MP Financial Services-Go Golf 2022 calendar.
The summer heat could do little to dampen the passion of the golfers, resulting in close competition across the different categories.
Basant Agarwal emerged the winner in the 0-14 handicap category with 84 gross and 34 points, just edging out eventual runner up SP Singh, who finished with 83 gross and 33 points.
Baljeet Singh was the winner in the 15-23 category with 87 gross and 38 points, while Yasumura was the runner up with 82 gross and 37 points.
With a score of 92 gross and 36 points, Sameer Kumar Das was the winner in the 24-36 handicap category. Ajay Kumar Singh was the category runner up with 98 gross and 35 points.
The three winners were awarded 3,000 reward points, while the runner ups took home 1,800 points for their effort. In all, 25 of the 52 golfers earned reward points.
Among the skill competitions that were played alongside GGOY, Kuldeep Pungalia won the competition for the longest drive at hole #1 with a shot of 261 yards. Ajay Kumar Singh won the competition for the closest to pin at hole # 3 by landing the ball just a foot and seven inches away from the hole. SP Singh was the competition for the second shot closest to pin at hole # 9 by landing the ball just 9 feet away from the hole.
