Fifty-three golfers teed off in the 8th of the 11-round Gulmohar Golfer of the Year (GGOY), which took place at Gulmohar Greens: Golf and Country Club on August 27 and 28.
GGOY is a part of the MP Financial Services-Go Golf 2022 calendar. The golfers were divided into three categories based on their handicap scores. Tight battles were witnessed in each of the three categories.
Rutvik Thakkar emerged the winner in the 0-14 handicap category with 86 gross and 33 points, edging out Kinshuk Kumar, who returned 89 gross and 31 points, and was the runner up. Baljeet Singh was the winner in the 15-23 handicap category with 86 gross and 35 points, and Monil Parikh was the runner up with 87 gross and 32 points. Dr Siddharth Mavani was the winner in the 24-36 handicap category with 91 gross and 37 points. Jogeshwar Kumbhar was the category runner up with 109 gross and 35 point
The three winners were awarded 3,000 reward points for their effort, while the runner ups took home 1,800 reward points. In all, 25 golfers from the three categories earned reward points.
Taranjeet Singh was the winner of the skill competition for the longest drive at hole #1 with a shot of 245 yards. Avtar Singh won the skill competition for the closest to pin at hole #3 by landing the ball just 11 feet from the hole. Jogeshwar Kumbhar emerged as the winner of the skill competition for the second shot closest to pin at hole #9 by landing the ball just five feet from the hole.
