As many as 56 Officers from the tri-services, Armed Forces, Para Military Forces and Ugandan Air Force have successfully completed their training and were awarded the coveted symbol of ‘Qualified Flying Instructor’ signifying their professional competence and acumen at Air Force Station, Tambaram.
Air Marshal Manavendra Singh, Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Training Command, IAF presided over the function. Group Captain Ratish Kumar, Commanding Officer, Flying Instructors’ School welcomed the Chief Guest and briefed on the achievements of the course.
The Valedictory Function for the 152nd Qualified Flying Instructors Course (QFIC) was held on Friday (June 3, 2022).
The QFIC is a challenging curriculum of 22 weeks. It encompasses nine phases of flying training and over 200 hours of ground training. The training of 152nd QFIC commenced on 04 Jan 2022. The trophies for achieving distinction in flying and ground subjects were awarded:
- The prestigious Majithia Trophy for the officer standing first in Overall Order of Merit was awarded to Squadron Leader S Sareen.
- The Chief of Air Staff’s Trophy for Best in Fixed Wing Flying was awarded to Squadron Leader S Sareen.
- The Chief of Air Staff’s Trophy for Best in Rotary Wing Flying was awarded to Lieutenant Commander Ankit Agarwal.
- The Commodore Commandant’s Trophy for standing first in Aerobatics was awarded to Squadron Leader GK Gehlout.
- The Dilbagh Trophy for standing first in Instructional Technique (Fixed Wing) was awarded to Squadron Leader A Agrawal.
- The Dilbagh Trophy for standing first in Instructional Technique (Rotary Wing) was awarded to Lieutenant Commander Kiran P.
- Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief’s Trophy for standing first in Ground Subjects to (Fixed Wing) was awarded to Squadron Leader S Sareen.
- Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief’s Trophy for standing first in Ground Subjects (Rotary Wing) was awarded to Squadron Leader Arshad Abbas.
- Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief’s Trophy for standing second in Overall Order of Merit was awarded to Lieutenant Commander Ankit Agarwal.
In his convocational address, the Chief Guest emphasized on the invaluable role played by FIS in training Qualified Flying Instructors (QFIs) who are instrumental in training budding military aviators to meet the desired standards of their respective service. While congratulating the trainee officers, he urged them to be role models for the future pilots, so that they imbibe the best skills and conduct of military aviators, says a release from Defence PRO.
