Four persons were fatally knocked down and over 20 persons sustained injuries in an accident in which multiple vehicles collided near Ulundurpet in Tamil Nadu in the early hours on Monday.

According to police, a TNSTC bus heading towards Chennai from Aranthangi brushed against an SUV while overtaking near Edaikal on the Tiruchi-Chennai bypass. This led to arguments between the SUV driver Rajan and the bus crew in the middle of the road. While, few passengers from the bus and the SUV got down and were standing on the roadside, an Omnibus proceeding towards Chennai rammed on the stationary SUV and the bus resulting the death of Rajan (23) of Arakonam, Sargunam (34) of Kanchipuram and Vellaisamy (39) of Pudukottai district and one more person yet to be identified died on the spot.

Over 20 persons sustained injuries, they were rushed to the Ulundurpet Government Hospital. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
