AHMDABAD, JUNE 30
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat unit leaders – Isudan Gadhvi and Mahesh Savani – were allegedly attacked by a mob of around 70 people in a village in Junagadh district from where the AAP leaders were passing through during a ‘Jan Samvad Yatra’ on Wednesday.
While the Gujarat unit of the AAP alleged that the attackers were BJP workers, the ruling party denied it. A convoy of vehicles carrying AAP leaders Isudan Gadhvi, Pravin Ram, Mahesh Savani and others was attacked on Wednesday evening in Junagadh where they had organized `Jan Samvedna Yatra”, the AAP said. Its Gujarat unit chief Gopal Italia was also attacked, the party said.

“AAP leaders Isudan Gadhavi, Mahesh Savani and others were attacked when their car was intercepted by a mob equipped with iron pipes and sticks. Local party leaders are reaching Visavadar police station to register FIR,” said the AAP statement in Gujarat.
Ten AAP volunteers have suffered minor injuries while one was seriously injured in the violent attack when a mob launched an assault with iron pipes on the Toyota Fortuner vehicle in which the AAP leaders were travelling. The AAP says, 6-7 vehicles part of the convoy were attacked.

The party said that some people were standing on the road raising black flags in protest against AAP leaders Isudan Gadhvi and Mahesh Savani and used the sticks to attack the convoy.
AAP Gujarat media coordinator Tuli Banerjee claimed that the “BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) organised the violent attack” on the AAP leaders in Junagadh district.
“We are getting tremendous response from the public during our campaign yatra and therefore BJP is rattled and is now resorting to violence,” Gadhavi said after the incident.
The BJP denied the allegations. “The BJP has nothing to do with this, none of our party workers are involved in this. A group of people from an organization were protesting against the AAP with placards on the road. When the convoy reached them, some AAP members in the cars abused them, after which they got agitated and a clash followed. Our party has nothing to do with this,” the BJP’s district president Kirit Patel told reporters.
Officials at the police control room said they did not have any information about the incident.
