In a freak mishap, one person died and two others were seriously injured following electrocution during flag-hoisting ceremony preparations at a private company at Jarod village on the outskirts of Vadodara on Saturday. The kin of the deceased have demanded adequate compensation from the management for its negligence, the police said on Sunday.
According to the police, the rolling stair on which the trio was standing touched the overhead wire while they were doing decoration work resulting in an electric shock.
The impact was such that Mahesh Ramanbhai Thakor, the security guard (Kamrol village) died on the spot while two others were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment. The body of the ill-fated person has been sent to Jarod Referral hospital.
The family of the deceased has demanded compensation from the company. They complained that the company was responsible for the death and refused to accept the body until their demands were accepted by the company. The company management had sought more time to decide on the compensation.
