Gujarat has vaccinated more than 50 percent of its adult population with at least one dose of anti-coronavirus vaccines, while the overall coverage stood at 3.26 crores, officials said on Thursday.

According to the state government, 3.26 crore doses of coronavirus vaccines were administered to eligible people till now, of which 3.39 lakh doses were given on Thursday.

A total of 2,48,56,000 people (in 18-plus category) have got their first jab so far, they said. The number of vaccine doses administered so far in the state stood at 3.26 crores, more than 6 months after the inoculation drive began on January 16, an official release said.

The count of people who have so far received both doses of the vaccine has gone up to 77.57 lakh, it said. This means, 15.72 percent of the total eligible population has been fully vaccinated against coronavirus.

“The total above 18 population of the state is 4,93,20,903, out of which as on Thursday, 2,48,56,000 people, that is 50 percent of the population, has been given protection against COVID-19 in form of (at least one dose of) vaccine,” the release said.

These details were shared by the health department during a meeting of the state government’s core committee on coronavirus chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, the officials said. Gujarat on Thursday administered 4,39,045 vaccine doses, the release said.

State reports 27 new coronavirus cases, 33 recoveries

Gujarat reported 27 new COVID-19 cases and no fresh death for the 11th day in a row on Thursday, while 33 patients recovered from the infection, the state Health Department said.

With this, the tally of positive cases rose to 8,24,829, while the cumulative recoveries reached 8,14,485, it said.

Gujarat’s COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.75 percent. With no death reported during the day across the state, the toll remained unchanged at 10,076, the department said in a release.

The state has not reported any new coronavirus-related death since July 19. Gujarat now has 268 active cases, of which five patients are on ventilators, it said.

Only one new coronavirus case was reported in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 10,615, said an official release. Also, six more patients recovered from the infection, it said. Out of the total 10,615 people found positive for coronavirus in the UT since the outbreak, four have died, 10,575 have recovered while 36 patients are under treatment, said the release.

Gujarat COVID-19 figures are positive cases 8,24,829, new cases 27, deaths 10,076, discharged 8,14,485, active cases 268, people tested so far (figures not released).
