Southern Railway celebrated the 76th Republic Day at the Railway Stadium, Perambur, Chennai on Sunday. R.N. Singh, General Manager, Southern Railway unfurled the National Flag in the presence of G.M. Eswara Rao, Principal Chief Security Commissioner, RPF, and took the salute at the RPF parade consisting of RPF contingents, including Women Platoons and St John’s Ambulance Brigade.

The program was attended by Kaushal Kishore, Additional General Manager; Principal Heads of Departments of Southern Railway; B. Viswanath Eerya , Divisional Railway Manager/Chennai; Sonia Singh, President of Southern Railway Women’s Headquarters Organisation; Officers & Staff and their family members, and Representatives of Labour Unions and Associations of Southern Railway.

Addressing the gathering, the General Manager commended the dedication of the workforce and reaffirmed Southern Railway’s commitment to modernization and sustainability. He expressed pride in the Zone’s outstanding performance, including winning All India Shields for excellence in Civil Engineering, Security, and Healthcare, with a special mention of the Golden Rock Workshop for receiving the Best Workshop Rolling Stock Shield. The General Manager also highlighted Southern Railway’s exceptional achievements during 2024-25 in revenue growth, freight loading, passenger amenities, infrastructure development, safety, and security.
Cultural programmes by RPF and impressive dance performance by the students of Ashraya school for special children (run by Southern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (HQ), followed by the Flag unfurling and March Past.
