GANDHINAGAR, DEC 8
Having crushed all opposition parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is flying down to BJP Gujarat Headquarters at Kamalam in Gandhinagar around 6:30 pm on Thursday to celebrate the party’s record shattering seventh consecutive win with over 150 seats in the Assembly polls.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has retained his Ghatlodia seat with thumping majority.
According to EC website at 11:30 am, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which hasn’t lost any poll in Gujarat since 1995, was leading in 158 out of 182 seats, while Congress in 19 and AAP in 7. The BJP has been in power in Gujarat for 27 years but has never won an election with such a massive mandate.

The Exit Polls had predicted that the BJP would comfortably win a seventh straight term – an outcome that will equal the Left Front’s feat in West Bengal. The early trends now indicate that the BJP might surpass its 2002 record in terms of seats won.
Its best performance in Gujarat goes back to 2002 when the party won 127 seats.
