Chennai Division of the Southern Railway is launching 96 additional Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) at 74 railway stations to facilitate fast ticketing to its millions of commuters in coming weeks, says a release.

“Chennai Division is taking various initiatives to improve the travel experience of rail passengers. As part of this initiative, it is increasing the number of ATVMs at railway stations from the existing 34 machines to 130 machines across the Division in response to the growing demand by the passengers,” says a release.
- These new ATVMs will benefit the passengers by enabling them to purchase their tickets quickly and conveniently while greatly reducing the waiting time in queues during peak hours
- The ATVMs allow passengers to buy unreserved tickets, platform tickets and allow renewal of season tickets also
These new ATVMs will benefit the passengers by enabling them to purchase their tickets quickly and conveniently while greatly reducing the waiting time in queues during peak hours. The interface of an ATVM is user-friendly enabling the passengers to easily book their tickets safely and swiftly.
They are easy to use and accept various payment methods such as Smart cards provided by Railways and QR code via UPI applications.
