The Adani Foundation has collaborated with the National Institute of Education (NIE) International, part of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore to curate and conduct an extensive STEM Leadership Program. Under this collaboration, which is facilitated by the Temasek Foundation (Singapore), 42 teachers from six Adani Foundation schools will be trained as master trainers for fostering STEM leadership in the Indian context. The program will be conducted over a period of 3 years (April 2023 to December 2025) and is divided into six phases. The first phase – scheduled from April 14 to 16 – is already underway.
All phases except the fifth phase of training will be conducted by eight experts from NIE in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This will include conducting a base line study of the state of STEM education and profile of STEM industries in Gujarat, developing an Integrated STEM Curriculum Framework, building STEM Curricular Leadership in Gujarat through online and in-person workshops, and sharing the master trainers’ learnings and experiences during a national level three-day conference.
During the fifth phase, the participants will visit Singapore to get extended experience on emerging technologies and innovation with hands-on workshop at Singapore’s universities and STEM companies. They will visit schools in Singapore to observe STEM lessons and interact with STEM teachers to share and learn. The key outcome will be the establishment of a robust network of STEM educators in Singapore and India.
This will further strengthen the design and development of the Integrated STEM Curriculum Framework in the Indian context, which will be in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It will include standards, evaluation instruments, recommended approaches, and proposed activities. This comprehensive framework will be submitted and recommended for implementation across various educational boards in the country.
There is great potential for STEM education to evolve and empower school students in the country. It is the perfect aid for young minds to harness their curiosity so that they become professionals with abilities to traverse various disciplines and find innovative solutions to real-world problems. This STEM Leadership Program is an extension of the Adani Foundation’s efforts to make quality education available and affordable to as many children as possible. The Foundation runs several cost-free schools, subsidized schools, and smart learning programs across the country.
