Tamilians Gayathri Nagarajan and Kuppa Mahalakshmi, natives of Saurashtra, and their group of women who came to participate in the Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam from Madurai have composed a song in Tamil that interweaves the Sangamam (confluence) of Somnath, Sardar, Lion, the Statue of Unity and the Prime Minister. Five women of the group presented their song before the guests, including the Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in a poetic style for organizing this momentous Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam.
Tamilian women who are originally from Saurashtra got emotional after visiting Gir Somnath and explained the real essence and gist of the song by expressing their joy and affection towards their motherland.
An elated Gayatri Nagarajan said, “My great-grandfather migrated from Saurashtra centuries ago and came to Madurai after which our family has settled down here for years. Temples of our Kuldevi Kapaleshwari Devi and Daitya Sudan Maharaj are situated here in Somnath. We, the entire Saurashtrian Tamil community, are whole-heartedly thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and e Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel for this spiritual journey.”
Kuppa Mahalakshmi expressing her happiness said, “I am a singer and during our journey on the train we thought of expressing our gratitude uniquely thus we composed this song together and presented it before Minister Smriti Irani. The entire ‘Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam Tour’ has been described in this song. Iron Man Sardar Patel, Lion of Gir, the Statue of Unity, and places, including Ahmedabad have been mentioned in this song.
Gujarat has taken giant strides in terms of development. This journey for us has been memorable and the hospitality of the people here in Saurashtra is something we will take with us forever. After reaching Tamil Nadu we will share this experience and also tell them to visit Gujarat.”
