India has the courage to do something new, even in the most difficult circumstances, as it faces hurdles on the way to its target for 2047 and forces that threaten to break it. PM Modi said that as the country completed 75 years of independence, it has invoked a sense of pride towards its heritage. He said the pride in ‘our heritage will grow as we get to know it by freeing ourselves of our slave mentality,’ asserting that India celebrates its diversity.

The Prime Minister remembered that as Chief Minister he organized a similar Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam in Madurai in 2010 with more than 50,000 participants from Saurashtra.

Virtually addressing the closing ceremony of ‘Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam‘, PM Modi said there is a lot between Gujarat and Tamil Nadu that has been deliberately kept out of ‘our’ knowledge. “Today we have the target of India at 2047 (make India a developed country). We also have the challenges of the era of slavery and the period of seven decades after that. We have to take the country forward, but on the way, there will be forces that threaten to break us and people to mislead us. But India has the courage to do something new even in the most difficult of circumstances,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister also said that India is a country that showcases its diversity as its specialty. “We are a people who celebrate diversity. We celebrate different languages and dialects, different arts and knowledge. There is diversity everywhere, from our faith to our spirituality,” he said. PM Modi also said that the Sangamam is a confluence of the nationalist fervour of Sardar Patel and Subramania Bharati.

“At this time when the unity of our country is taking shape through the great festivals like Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamam, Sardar Sahab must have been sending blessings to us all. This celebration of the country`s unity is also fulfilling the dreams of lakhs of freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to see `Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat`,” PM Modi said.

He said that during Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav the country is witnessing a new cultural tradition like Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam. The Prime Minister further added that there is need for harmony and shunning cultural clashes. “We have to emphasize coordination, not cultural clashes. We don`t have to take forward the struggles and confluences. We don`t want to find differences… we want to make emotional connections. This is the immortal tradition of India which takes everyone along and moves ahead with inclusiveness, accepts everyone and moves forward,” PM Modi said.

Mentioning the power of the Sangamam, PM Modi said that just like the convergence of streams gives rise to the creation of a Sangamam, the Kumbhs have been the Sangamams for ideas and cultures of diversities.

“Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam is also a festival of worship of Shakti in the form of Devi Meenakshi and Devi Parvati. Also, this is a festival of the Spirit of Shiva in the form of Bhagan Somnath and Bhagwan Ramnath. Similarly, it is a sangam of the land of Sundershwara and Nageshwara, this is the sangam of Shri Krishna and Shri Ranganatha, Narmada and Vagai, Dandiya and Kolattam and a sangam of the sacred tradition of Puris like Dwarka and Puri,” Modi added.

“We have been nurturing the tradition of the `Sangamam` for centuries. Just like the convergence of streams gives rise to the creation of a Sangamam, our Kumbhs have been the Sangamams for ideas and cultures of our diversities. Every such thing has played an immensely significant role in shaping us, our country. Such is the power of the Sangamam!” he said.

During the closing ceremony, PM Modi launched the book `Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamprashastih` by Shree Somnath Sanskrit University. The Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam takes forward this vision by celebrating the shared culture and heritage between Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.

The Prime Minister remembered the attack on Somnath and the resultant exodus to Tamil Nadu and recalled that those moving from one part of the country to another never worried about the new language, people and environment.

He reiterated that a large number of people migrated from Saurashtra to Tamil Nadu to protect their faith and identity and the people of Tamil Nadu welcomed them with open arms, and extended all facilities for a new life.

“Pride in our heritage will increase when we get to know it, try to get to know ourselves by getting free from the mentality of slavery. This cultural fusion of Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu, of the West and the South is a flow that has been in motion for thousands of years,” he added.

Centuries ago, many people migrated to Tamil Nadu from the Saurashtra region. The Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam allowed Saurashtrian Tamils to reconnect with their roots, said the PMO statement.

தாம் முதலமைச்சராக இருந்த போது 2010-ம் ஆண்டு மதுரையில் இதுபோன்ற சௌராஷ்டிரா தமிழ் சங்கமத்திற்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்ததாகவும், அதில் சௌராஷ்டிராவில் இருந்து 50 ஆயிரத்திற்கும் மேற்பட்டவர்கள் பங்கேற்றதாகவும் பிரதமர் நினைவு கூர்ந்தார்.

தமிழ்நாட்டில் இருந்து விருந்தினர்கள் அதே பாசத்துடன் சௌராஷ்டிரா வந்துள்ளதாக அவர் கூறினார்.

குஜராத்தில் சுற்றுலா அனுபவத்தை விருந்தினர்கள் உணர்ந்ததாகவும், கெவாடியாவில் உள்ள ஒற்றுமை சிலையை பார்வையிட்டதாகவும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார். சௌராஷ்டிரா தமிழ் சங்கமத்தில் கடந்த காலத்தின் விலைமதிப்பற்ற நினைவுகள், தற்காலத்திற்கான அனுபவங்கள், எதிர்காலத்திற்கான தீர்மானங்கள் மற்றும் உத்வேகங்களை காணலாம் என்று தெரிவித்தார். இன்றைய நிகழ்ச்சிக்காக சௌராஷ்டிரா மற்றும் தமிழ்நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த அனைவருக்கும்  அவர் வாழ்த்து கூறினார்.

இந்திய சுதந்திரத்தின் அமிர்த காலத்தில் சௌராஷ்டிரா தமிழ் சங்கமம் போன்ற முக்கிய கலாச்சார நிகழ்வுகளை நாம் கொண்டாடி வருகிறோம் என்று பிரதமர் குறிப்பிட்டார். இது தமிழ்நாடு மற்றும் சௌராஷ்டிராவின் சங்கமமாக மட்டுமல்லாமல், தேவி மீனாட்சி, தேவி பார்வதி உருவில் சக்தியை வழிபடும் திருவிழாவாகவும் உள்ளது என்று கூறினார். அத்துடன்,  கடவுள் சோம்நாத், கடவுள் ராம்நாத் ஆகிய வடிவில் சிவனை கொண்டாடும் விழாவாகவும் இது அமைந்துள்ளதாக அவர் தெரிவித்தார். தேசமே முதலில் எனும் சர்தார் பட்டேல், சுப்பிரமணிய பாரதி ஆகியோரின் சிந்தனையை சௌராஷ்டிரா தமிழ் சங்கமம் அடையாளப்படுத்துவதாக அவர் கூறினார். நாட்டை கட்டமைப்பதில் இந்த பாரம்பரியத்தையொட்டி நாம் முன்னோக்கி செல்லவேண்டும் என்று பிரதமர் கூறினார்.

பன்முகத் தன்மையை சிறப்பம்சமாக இந்திய நாடு காண்கிறது என்று குறிப்பிட்ட பிரதமர், இந்த பன்முகத் தன்மை, நம்மை பிரிக்காமல், நமது பிணைப்பையும், உறவையும் வலுப்படுத்துவதாக அவர் தெரிவித்தார். பல்வேறு நீரோடைகள், இணையும் போது, சங்கமம் உருவாகுவதாக அவர் சுட்டிக்காட்டினார். இந்தியாவில் பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக கும்பமேளா போன்ற நிகழ்வுகள் நதிகளின் சங்கமத்தில் நடைபெறுவதாகக் கூறினார். சௌராஷ்டிரா தமிழ் சங்கமம் இன்று புதிய வடிவத்தை நோக்கி முன்னோக்கி செல்வது, இந்த சங்கமத்தின் சக்தியாகும் என்று அவர் தெரிவித்தார். சர்தார் படேலின் ஆசீர்வாதத்துடன் இதுபோன்ற சிறப்பான விழாக்கள் மூலம் நாட்டின் ஒற்றுமை வடிவமைக்கப்படுவதாக அவர் கூறினார். ஒரே இந்தியா, உன்னத இந்தியா, என்று கனவு கண்டு தங்களது உயிரை தியாகம் செய்த லட்சக்கணக்கான சுதந்திரப் போராட்ட வீர்ரகளின் கனவுகளையும் இது நிறைவேற்றுவதாகவும் பிரதமர் தெரிவித்தார்.

கடினமான தருணங்களிலும் கூட, புதுமை கண்டுபிடிப்புகளுக்கான சக்தி இந்தியாவில் உள்ளதாகவும், சௌராஷ்டிரா, தமிழ்நாடு ஆகியவற்றின் வரலாறு இதற்காக நமக்கு உறுதி கூறுவதாகவும் அவர் கூறினார்.

சௌராஷ்டிரா தமிழ் சங்கமத்தின் நிறைவு நிகழ்ச்சியில் தலைமை விருந்தினராக குஜராத் முதலமைச்சர் திரு பூபேந்திர படேல் பங்கேற்றார். இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில் பேசிய அவர், பிரதமர் திரு நரேந்திர மோடியின் தலைமைத்துவ தொலைநோக்குப் பார்வையால் தமிழ்நாட்டிற்கும், குஜராத்துக்கும் இடையேயான பல்லாண்டு கால உறவுகள்  சௌராஷ்டிரா தமிழ் சங்கமம் மூலம் வலுப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன என்றார். பிரதமரின் முயற்சிகள் காரணமாக இரு மாநிலங்களுக்கும் இடையேயான வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்புமிக்க உறவுகள் முதல்முறையாக புதுப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன என்றும் அவர் கூறினார்.

இந்தியாவின் தொன்மையான கலாச்சார பாரம்பரியத்தை புகழ்ந்துரைத்த முதலமைச்சர், ஆதி சங்கராச்சாரியார் இந்தியாவின் ஆன்மீகத்திற்கு பாதை வகுத்தார். சாணக்கியர் அரசியலுக்கான ஒற்றுமையை கொண்டுவந்தார். சர்தார் வல்லபாய் படேல் நவீன இந்தியாவை புவியியல் ரீதியாக ஒன்றுபடுத்தினார். பல்வேறு மாநிலங்கள் மற்றும் அவற்றின் கலாச்சாரங்களுடன் இந்தியாவின் ஒற்றுமையை எடுத்துரைக்கும் பிரதமர் திரு நரேந்திர மோடி, ஒரே இந்தியா உன்னத இந்தியா என்ற மந்திரத்தை  முன்வைத்துள்ளார் என்று திரு பூபேந்திர படேல் கூறினார்.

ஜார்கண்ட் மாநில ஆளுநர் திரு சி பி ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் பேசுகையில்,  திரு நரேந்திர மோடி பிரதமரானதில் இருந்து வளர்ச்சியை நோக்கி இந்தியா முன்னேறி வருகிறது என்றும், அவரது தொலைநோக்குப் பார்வையால் உலகின் 5-வது பெரிய பொருளாதாரமாக இந்தியா மாறியிருக்கிறது என்றும் கூறினார்.

நாகாலாந்து ஆளுநர் திரு இல கணேசன் பேசுகையில், குஜராத் முதலமைச்சராக திரு நரேந்திர மோடி இருந்த போது, தமிழ்நாட்டில் வசிக்கும் சௌராஷ்டிர மக்களை சந்தித்ததை நினைவுகூர்ந்தார். சௌராஷ்டிரா தமிழ் சங்கமத்தால் இரு மாநிலங்களுக்கிடையேயான உறவுகள் வலுப்படும் என்று அவர் கூறினார்.

மத்திய தகவல் ஒலிபரப்பு, கால்நடை பராமரிப்பு, மீன்வளம் மற்றும் பால்வளத்துறை இணையமைச்சர் டாக்டர் எல் முருகன், சௌராஷ்டிரா பகுதிக்கு பயணம் செய்த போது தமிழ்ப் பாடகர் டி எம் சௌந்தரராஜனை பேரார்வத்துடன் நினைவுகூர்ந்தார். அவர் இயற்றிய பாடல் ஒன்றை குறிப்பிட்ட அமைச்சர், இது பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடியையும் மற்றும் பலரையும் கவர்ந்ததாக அவர் தெரிவித்தார். ஆயிரம் ஆண்டு இடைவெளிக்கு பின் தமிழ்நாட்டுக்கும், சௌராஷ்டிராவுக்கும் இடையேயான உறவை புதுப்பித்ததற்காக  டி எம் சௌந்தரராஜனுக்கு மனமார்ந்த நன்றியை தெரிவித்தார். தமிழ்நாட்டின் காஞ்சிபுரம் பட்டுசேலை சௌராஷ்டிர மக்களால் நெய்யப்பட்டதாகவும் டாக்டர் எல் முருகன் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

தொடர்ந்து உரையாற்றிய குஜராத் மாநில சுகாதாரத்துறை அமைச்சர் திரு. ருஷிகேஷ் படேல், இந்தியா பல்வேறு கலாச்சாரங்களை உள்ளடக்கிய நாடாக இருந்தபோதிலும், அனைவர் மனதிலும் நாம் இந்தியர் என்ற எண்ணம் எப்போதுமே நிலைத்திருப்பதே அவர்களை சிறப்புமிக்கவர்களாக மாற்றியிருப்பதாகப் பெருமிதம் தெரிவித்தார்.
