The video shared by the Prime Minister gives a virtual tour of the new Parliament building, including the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
As many as 25 parties are expected to attend the inauguration of the new Parliament building even as 20 opposition parties have decided to boycott the event.
Officials said the ceremonial sceptre ‘Sengol’ will be handed over to Modi by the high priests of the Shaivite order.
The Sengol will be installed near the chair of the Speaker in the new Parliament building.
Former vice president M Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, former prime minister HD Deve Gowda and Rajya Sabha deputy chairman Harivansh among others are expected to be present during the formal inauguration of the new complex.
The triangular-shaped four-storey Parliament building has a built-up area of 64,500sqm. The building has three main gates – Gyan Dwar, Shakti Dwar, and Karma Dwar.
Centre to issue commemorative Rs 75 coin to mark inauguration of new Parliament Building
The government will issue a commemorative Rs 75 coin to mark the inauguration of new Parliament Building on May 28 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As per a gazette notification by Department of Economic Affairs under the finance ministry, the weight of this coin could be 34.65- 35.35 gram.
One side of the coin will bear the image of Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre flanked by the word ‘Bharat’ in Devnagri script and ‘INDIA’ in English, it said. Rupee symbol ‘?’ and denominational value ’75’ in international numeral will also be inscribed below the Lion Capitol.
The other side of the coin shall bear the image of Parliament Complex, and the year ‘2023’ in international numeral below the image.
