As Tamil Nadu wrestles with the aftermath of the cyclone and flood, the state administration and the Central government have collectively initiated a substantial rescue and relief mission to aid the affected populace.
Amid the ongoing flooding, a total of 35 fatalities have been recorded, with Thoothukudi district registering 22 deaths and Tirunelveli reporting 13 casualties.
Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary, Shiv Das Meena, on Saturday declared that the rescue operation in the flood-affected southern districts of the state has concluded. The immediate focus is now directed towards reinstating basic services in these areas. Despite this progress, communication networks in some districts continue to face disruptions in the aftermath of the flood.
The incessant rainfall across the state has resulted in roads and railway tracks being submerged.
