In line with the neighbouring Andhra and other states, the Tamil Nadu Government on Tuesday announced sops for unorganised sector workers, hawkers, migrant workers and free ration for all cardholders along with Rs. 1,000 assistance here on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has announced a total sop to the tune of Rs. 3,280 crore as relief to the people to stay at their homes on the floor of the assembly.

The announcement will benefit the autorickshaw drivers, agriculture labourers, daily wage earners, taxi drivers, construction and workers from the unorganised sectors will be given relief to offset their routine life during lockdown from Tuesday evening.
Important announcements of the Chief Minister are free ration for all cardholders along with Rs. 1,000 as lockdown relief. Those who failed to draw ration for March can avail along with April ration. To meet the social distancing, the relief and ration would be given to the cardholders after allocating token method. Those who do not wish to avail the relief can inform through online or through App.
Construction workers and auto drivers who are members of the Labour Welfare Boards will be given an amount of Rs. 1,000 along with 15 kg rice, 1 kg dal and 1 kg cooking oil.
Migrant workers from other states should be identified by the concerned district administration and can extend 15 kg rice, one kg dal and one kg cooking oil, the Chief Minister said.
Senior citizens who are taking food from Anganwadi centres will be given at their doorsteps. The registered platform vendors will be given an additional Rs. 1,000 apart from Rs. 1,000 for their ration cards.
The beneficiaries of MGNREA will be given 2 days additional wages as a special incentive to offset the lockdown period up to March 31, Palaniswamy announced.
