AHMEDABAD, JUNE 23

Ahmedabad: Kalorex, a leading education group committed to the holistic development and well-being of students, has introduced a Sustainability Plan curriculum for the new academic year. The initiative aims to empower the next generation and students as change agents for a sustainable and better future.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Kalorex has reimagined its mascot, Yali, as Yali – The Green Guardian, a nature superhero designed to instil a deep love and respect for nature among students.
Dr. Manjula Pooja Shroff, MD and CEO of Kalorex, said, “At Kalorex, we believe that the key to securing a better and sustainable future lies in empowering our children. By nurturing their love for nature, we are cultivating the environmental champions of tomorrow. Our Sustainability Plan curriculum and Yali – The Green Guardian initiatives reflect this vision, making every child a vital ally in the fight against climate change.”
The Sustainability Plan curriculum was officially launched on June 13, coinciding with the reopening of schools after the summer vacation, and just over a week after World Environment Day. This initiative engages students, staff, and parents, encouraging them to follow Yali – The Green Guardian and form The Green Guardian Force. It is designed to educate and inspire the entire Kalorex community to adopt sustainable living practices through a series of focused activities aligned with five strategic environmental tenets.
The Blue Island tenet focuses on saving water and saving the planet, and the Green Garden on planting trees for a greener future. The Energy Station focuses on switching off appliances and switching on smartness and the Recycle Yard on recycling, reusing and repeating. The Reduction Booth aims to reduce pollution and reduce waste.
Each month, the Sustainability Plan curriculum will especially focus on one of these tenets, integrating specific activities into the school subjects across all educational levels. These activities are designed to raise awareness and instil the principles of sustainable living and love for nature among students of all ages.
For the introductory month of June, the focus is on raising awareness and empathy for environmental causes, echoing Yali – The Green Guardian’s message: “Love Nature, Live with Nature.”
A series of activities are planned for the coming weeks and months. For instance, foundational year activities will focus on simple, actionable tasks like switching off lights, fans and air-conditioners. Middle school students will conduct surveys on water issues faced by the school sub-staff and house help, raising awareness and empathy for natural resources. For staff, initiatives like “No Printing Week” and “Say No to One-Time Plastic” will promote sustainable habits.
“Habits are formed through repetition and we are going to conduct various activities with a special focus throughout the year. I am confident these activities will transform every member of the Kalorex community into a conscious citizen and environmental warrior,” Dr. Shroff added.
Kalorex Group invites everyone to join the Green Guardian Force, take the Yali pledge, and amplify its message and commitment to turning the initiative into a movement.
