The much-anticipated Madras Quiz is back this year, as the city celebrates its 385th birthday. As part of the Madras week celebrations, the quiz will be hosted by quizmaster, Dr Sumanth C Raman. It will take place at the MMA Auditorium, Pathari Road, off Anna Salai on Sunday, August 18, 2024, starting at 2:30 pm. The quiz is sure to interest serious quizzers, Madras/Chennai history lovers, and those curious about the city.
The Madras Quiz, presented by the Murugappa Group since 2013, is a part of Madras Week, is actively promoted by Vincent D’Souza, Journalist and Media Entrepreneur, and one of the founding members of ‘Madras Day’ celebrations.

- Teams of two can take part in this open quiz with no prior registrations required
- Special prizes for best school students, senior citizens and women-only teams
- Murugappa Group launches an online contemporary contest titled, “What Does Madras Mean to You?”
Prizes worth ₹50,000 will be given away at the quiz. The participants will compete for the prestigious rolling trophy, along with gift hampers and vouchers. Special prizes will be given to the best-performing exclusive teams of women, senior citizens and school students. Audience prizes also await those who watch the quiz.
Teams of two can take part in this open quiz with no prior registrations required.
In celebration of Madras Week, the Murugappa Group has launched an online contemporary contest titled, “What Does Madras Mean to You?” This engaging contest invites participants to share their response for the ‘Chennai na, Madras na…..’ stories.
Quiz format:
- The Madras Quiz is an ‘Open Quiz’, i.e. there is no age restriction for the participants.
- Any two people (family / friends / even complete strangers) can come together to form a team to participate.
- Prizes worth Rs 50,000 are awarded to the Madras Quiz winners.
- Every year, the top 2 winning teams (i.e. 4 people) receive grand prizes, along with gift hampers and the Madras Quiz rolling trophy.
- The top 3 teams are also given away trophies and the 3 runner-up teams receive gift hampers.
- Special gift hampers are given to the Best Women’s Team, Best Student’s Team, and Best Senior Citizen’s team.
