In light of the coronavirus pandemic, Glenmark Life Sciences along with Glenmark Foundation has introduced targeted interventions to support women, children, and local law enforcement in Gujarat. As essential services are operational, the Reproductive Child Health (RCH) Center supported by the Foundation in Ankleshwar, is functional and catering to beneficiaries visiting the Centres. The Foundation is also working closely with its child health project beneficiaries and the community to offer counsel and psychological support to 3,000 lactating mothers and pregnant women.
One of the key interventions is the launch of a telehealth solution by the Foundation and its NGO partner Institute for Global Development (IGD).
Commenting on the initiative, Niraj Agnihotri, VP & Site Head at Glenmark Life Sciences, Ankleshwar, said, “Without doubt, the coronavirus outbreak has made life extremely difficult for thousands of people and their families in remote villages of the country. We are collaborating with the state’s health workers to extend our support and health services wherever possible, especially to vulnerable groups in need of these services.”
Snehal Shah, General Manager at Glenmark Life Sciences, Dahej, explained, “Our teams are working hard to support the State’s health interventions on multiple fronts. We are also extending our support in guiding pregnant and lactating women – who are among the most vulnerable to COVID-19 – towards a safe and healthy journey of motherhood.”
Additionally, Glenmark also organized health and medical check-ups for local law enforcement at GIDC Bharuch and GIDC Ankleshwar police stations. Over 250 police officers from Bharuch and 150 officers from Ankleshwar attended the health check-ups, along with the Heads of both district police authorities. Glenmark also provided free hand sanitizing kits to all attendees, as a mark of gratitude to fighting the outbreak on the frontlines for the country.
