Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative supported by Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), conducted a one-day financial awareness and cyber safety training programme at the Commando Training Centre, Lethapora, Pulwama. Organised by the RRU Jammu & Kashmir Campus, the programme focused on “Financial Planning, Financial Fraud, and Cyber Fraud Prevention and Mitigation” and was attended by personnel of the Jammu & Kashmir Police.
The training forms part of CDSL’s ongoing CSR commitment to promote financial literacy and cyber awareness among key stakeholders, particularly law enforcement agencies operating in an increasingly digital ecosystem. The initiative was spearheaded by Mohd Arif Rishu, DIG, Jammu & Kashmir Police, Lethapora, marking another significant step towards strengthening institutional preparedness against emerging financial and cyber risks.
The programme commenced with an inaugural address by Vice Principal SP Sajjad Hussain, Jammu & Kashmir Police, Lethapora, who underscored the critical importance of financial awareness and cyber vigilance for security personnel. He highlighted that such capacity-building initiatives not only enhance personal preparedness but also contribute to broader community-level resilience in the face of evolving digital threats.
Subject-matter experts from Rashtriya Raksha University conducted interactive and practice-oriented sessions covering personal financial planning, identification of common financial and cyber frauds, and practical strategies for prevention and mitigation. The sessions were designed to equip participants with actionable knowledge that can be applied directly in real-life and professional scenarios.
Anshu Singh, Assistant Professor, RRU, presented an overview of the university’s vision and mandate, emphasising its role in advancing safety, security education and citizen awareness across the country. She highlighted how collaborations under CSR frameworks enable academic expertise to translate into tangible public impact, particularly in sensitive and high-responsibility sectors such as policing.
Around 150 participants, including inspectors and trainees, took part in the programme. The training also familiarised attendees with safe digital practices and available mechanisms for reporting suspicious financial and cyber activities, aligning closely with national priorities on digital literacy, financial inclusion and cyber security.
Participants appreciated the practical, relevant and field-oriented approach of the sessions, noting their growing importance in navigating the complex landscape of financial crimes and cyber threats. The programme reinforced the value of informed decision-making, constant vigilance and awareness for personnel entrusted with public safety.
This initiative reflects the shared commitment of CDSL and Rashtriya Raksha University to fostering a financially aware and cyber-secure society through focused, on-ground interventions across India. The successful conduct of the programme marks yet another milestone in RRU’s mission to strengthen financial awareness and cyber resilience among frontline institutions.
