In a vibrant celebration of inspiration and empowerment, GLS University marked International Women’s Day with a powerful awards event titled “Phenomenal Women: A Tribute to Womanhood.”
Organised under the auspices of the Collegiate Women Development Committee (CWDC), the event honoured outstanding women achievers while reinforcing this year’s theme “Give to Gain.” The initiative highlighted the transformative role women play in shaping communities, institutions and the future.
The celebration was graced by the university’s executive director Dr. Chandni Kapadia, along with distinguished guests and members of the academic community. Dr. Kapadia noted that the event was guided by the vision of Sudhir Nanavati, president of GLS University.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kapadia underlined the importance of equal opportunities and collective support among women.
Dr. Kapadia said: “When women are given equal opportunity, they don’t just participate — they accelerate progress. Women support women, building empires. They are society’s architects; respecting them respects society itself.”
She further emphasized that women possess immense inherent power and that society must create platforms and opportunities that allow them to lead and thrive.
The programme concluded with S/He Fest, where certificates were presented to winners, celebrating talent, dedication and achievement across various fields.
Meanwhile, on the eve of the occasion, the Faculty of Management at GLS University organised a special programme titled “She Thrives: Feel to Heal,” focusing on the mental wellness of female faculty and staff.
The session featured expert-led discussions and activities designed to promote emotional well-being and resilience. One expert conducted a mindfulness session offering practical stress-management techniques, while another delivered a talk on self-awareness and self-care as pillars of mental health.
Participants described the sessions as inspiring and meaningful, acknowledging the growing importance of mental wellness in modern professional life. The initiative reflected the university’s broader commitment to fostering a supportive and holistic environment for its faculty community.
