GANDHINAGAR, MAY 2

As Industry 4.0 continues to evolve and artificial intelligence (AI) becomes central to industrial strategy, the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), has announced the second cohort of its executive master’s degree programme in Applications of Machine Learning in Engineering (AMLE). The admission portal will open on May 1, 2026, and the programme is scheduled to begin in January 2027.

With AI expected to contribute significantly to global productivity, the programme aims to address the growing gap between traditional engineering and advanced data-driven technologies. It focuses on applying machine learning across core engineering sectors including manufacturing, automation, energy systems, smart infrastructure and others

Unlike general data science courses, the AMLE programme emphasises practical use cases including predictive maintenance, process optimisation, control systems, scientific innovation etc., enabling engineers to work on real-world industrial challenges and data-driven systems.

“With the rapid integration of ML in engineering, the market now demands ‘bilingual’ professionals, those who understand both physical engineering laws and computational data models,” said Prof Pratyush Dayal, Associate Professor and Programme Coordinator, IITGN. “Batch 2 will build on our rigorous foundation, blending theoretical depth with hands-on applications to ensure our graduates are not just users of technology, but architects of engineering innovation.” He added.

The two-year programme is designed for working professionals and follows a flexible format with live interactive sessions scheduled during evenings and weekends, along with self-paced modules. It does not require a GATE qualification, making it accessible to professionals looking to upskill or transition into machine learning roles. The curriculum, developed with inputs from industry, includes capstone projects that focus on solving real-world industrial problems.

As organisations increasingly move towards customised, in-house AI and machine learning solutions, the demand for domain-specific expertise is rising. IITGN’s AMLE programme aims to equip participants with the skills required to stay relevant in a rapidly evolving industrial landscape.

Interested candidates can apply from May 1, 2026. Further details are available at:
