The mega collaboration, unveiled on Wednesday, will add nearly 1,500 hotel rooms across key airport-linked and high-growth urban destinations, while also bringing the internationally celebrated Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand to India for the very first time.
The ambitious hospitality expansion spans Jaipur, Navi Mumbai, Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram, positioning India’s fast-evolving airport cities as the next-generation hubs for luxury travel, business tourism and lifestyle experiences.
Kimpton’s India Debut Signals Luxury Lifestyle Shift
The biggest highlight of the partnership is the India entry of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, IHG’s globally acclaimed boutique luxury brand known for design-led spaces, immersive guest experiences and chef-driven dining concepts.
The first Kimpton property under the alliance will come up in Jaipur, marking a significant moment in India’s premium hospitality sector as global brands increasingly target experience-driven travellers seeking personalised and lifestyle-centric stays.
Alongside Kimpton, the portfolio will also feature Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties integrated into large mixed-use airport city developments being planned by AAHL.
Airports Becoming Urban Lifestyle Ecosystems
The move reflects a broader transformation underway in India’s aviation ecosystem, where airports are rapidly evolving beyond transit hubs into integrated urban destinations combining hotels, retail, entertainment, business districts and social infrastructure.
AAHL, India’s largest private airport operator, currently manages airports in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram, along with the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.
The company is developing approximately 663 acres of airport city infrastructure across multiple locations, aiming to create hospitality-led urban ecosystems that cater to rising domestic tourism, business travel and international connectivity.
‘World-Class Destinations Around Aviation Hubs’
Speaking about the partnership, Mr. Pranav Adani, Director, Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), said the collaboration reflects the group’s long-term vision of building integrated travel and lifestyle destinations around India’s growing aviation network.
“As the Adani Group expands its presence across hospitality and airport-led urban infrastructure, our vision is to create world-class destinations that seamlessly integrate travel, stay and urban experiences around India’s rapidly growing aviation ecosystem,” he said.
“Our collaboration with IHG Hotels & Resorts, and the development of five hotels across key gateway destinations, marks an important step in strengthening high-quality hospitality infrastructure aligned with India’s long-term travel and economic growth,” he added.
‘Strong Demand From Business And Leisure Travellers’
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts said the partnership underlines the tremendous growth potential of India’s hospitality market, especially around gateway cities and airport-led developments.
“The partnership with Adani Airport Holdings reflects the scale of opportunity we continue to see in India’s hospitality sector, particularly across gateway cities and airport-led developments that are witnessing strong demand from business, leisure and transit travellers alike,” he said.
“This agreement also marks an important milestone for us with the introduction of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants to India,” Jain added.
India’s Hospitality Boom Gains Momentum
IHG currently operates 52 hotels across six brands in India and has a pipeline of 98 additional properties expected to open over the next three to five years.
Industry experts believe the Adani-IHG alliance could significantly accelerate the evolution of airport cities into premium hospitality and commercial hubs, especially as India witnesses record growth in air passenger traffic, tourism and urban infrastructure investment.
For travellers, the partnership signals a future where airports are no longer just gateways to destinations — but destinations in themselves.
