AHMEDABAD, JUNE 16
Marking a significant leap for India’s specialty chemicals and infrastructure sectors, Lubrizol, in partnership with Grasim Industries Limited, inaugurated a state-of-the-art Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) resin manufacturing facility at Vilayat, Gujarat, creating one of the country’s most advanced and scalable integrated CPVC manufacturing footprints.
The newly commissioned resin plant, complemented by Lubrizol’s recently expanded CPVC compounding facility at Dahej, significantly enhances the company’s ability to provide end-to-end, locally manufactured CPVC solutions for India’s rapidly growing plumbing, piping and water infrastructure sectors.
Designed to ensure a dependable domestic supply of premium-quality CPVC resin and compounds used in residential, commercial and industrial piping systems, the integrated manufacturing ecosystem is expected to strengthen supply chain resilience while supporting India’s ambitious infrastructure and safe water delivery initiatives.
Leveraging Lubrizol’s global expertise in advanced materials and innovation, the facility is poised to deliver high-performance CPVC solutions that offer durability, reliability and long-term value across critical applications.
“Lubrizol introduced CPVC technology to India more than two decades ago, and since then, we have witnessed strong growth of the market alongside the country’s expanding economy,” said Abhishek Shrivastav, Managing Director, Lubrizol IMEA.
“With the commissioning of this world-class facility in Vilayat, we are strengthening our manufacturing capabilities in India by following a local-for-local approach. This investment underscores our long-term commitment to India by enabling consistent access to high-quality, locally produced materials backed by Lubrizol’s global standards of innovation, reliability, and performance.”
The commissioning of the Vilayat facility also marks another landmark in Lubrizol’s 60-year presence in India, reflecting the company’s continued confidence in the country’s manufacturing ecosystem and its alignment with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ vision.
Highlighting the strategic significance of the collaboration, Jayant V. Dhobley, Business Head & CEO, Global Chemicals, Aditya Birla Group, said: “This brings together Grasim’s manufacturing and execution capability in India with Lubrizol’s latest technology to deliver reliable CPVC materials for the market. It reflects our approach of building and collaborating to scalable chemical manufacturing capabilities together.”
CPVC has emerged as one of the most preferred materials for modern infrastructure owing to its superior heat resistance, corrosion resistance, durability and hygienic properties. It is extensively used in hot and cold water systems, fire sprinkler networks, HVAC installations and industrial piping, offering dependable long-term performance for mission-critical applications.
Lubrizol reiterated its commitment to operating its Indian manufacturing facilities with the highest standards of environmental stewardship and industrial safety through responsible resource management, sustainable manufacturing practices and adherence to stringent global safety protocols.
The company has significantly expanded its India footprint in recent years through the commissioning of its award-winning Global Capabilities Center in Pune, capacity enhancement at its Dahej CPVC compounding plant, expansion of its Vikhroli office in Mumbai, progress on its CPVC manufacturing partnership with Grasim, and the announcement of a dedicated India Innovation Center—underscoring its long-term commitment to local innovation powered by local talent and world-class facilities.
