Demonstrating that wellness is a shared journey extending beyond the battlefield and into everyday life, Headquarters Dakshin Bharat Area celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga with spirited participation from serving soldiers, their spouses and children across its establishments.

The celebration, organised under this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighted yoga’s enduring relevance as a lifelong practice that promotes physical vitality, mental resilience and emotional balance at every stage of life.

The observance featured guided sessions comprising a carefully curated blend of asanas, pranayama and meditation techniques aimed at enhancing flexibility, strength, concentration and overall well-being. Participants embraced the opportunity to pause from their daily routines and reconnect with the principles of healthy living and mindfulness.

A defining feature of the event was the enthusiastic involvement of soldiers’ families and young children, reflecting the Indian Army’s commitment to fostering a wellness-oriented lifestyle that extends beyond military service and into the home.

The participation of children added a vibrant dimension to the celebrations, underscoring the importance of introducing healthy habits early in life and inspiring younger generations to embrace yoga as a foundation for lifelong fitness and mental well-being.

As societies worldwide place increasing emphasis on healthy ageing and preventive healthcare, yoga continues to emerge as a powerful tool for enhancing quality of life. Regular practice is known to improve flexibility, balance, strength and mental wellness, enabling individuals to remain active, independent and resilient for longer.

Officials noted that the observance aligned perfectly with the Army’s broader vision of nurturing physically fit, mentally strong and emotionally balanced personnel capable of meeting professional challenges while maintaining personal well-being.

“Yoga for Healthy Ageing” underscores the importance of adopting yoga as a lifelong practice to promote physical mobility, mental resilience and emotional well-being.

“The active involvement of soldiers’ families and children reflects the Army’s emphasis on fostering a culture of wellness that extends beyond the workplace into family life.”

“The observance of International Day of Yoga reaffirms the enduring relevance of India’s ancient wisdom in building healthier individuals, stronger families and a more resilient society.”

Through the celebration, HQ Dakshin Bharat Area once again reinforced its commitment to promoting holistic development, physical fitness and mental wellness among soldiers and their families, while showcasing how India’s timeless yoga tradition continues to strengthen communities and inspire healthier lifestyles.
