AHMEDABAD, JULY 8
What began as a birthday initiative has swiftly transformed into a nationwide—and increasingly global—movement celebrating the power of ideas, reaffirming one of Gautam Adani’s enduring beliefs that truth, perseverance and opportunity eventually triumph over every obstacle.
Launched on the occasion of the Adani Group Chairman’s 64th birthday, Vande Bharatam has generated an overwhelming response from innovators, entrepreneurs and changemakers, drawing applications from all 28 States and eight Union Territories besides attracting enthusiastic participation from the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Canada and several other international destinations.
The unprecedented response underscores the growing appeal of an initiative that seeks to discover and nurture transformative ideas from every corner of society, irrespective of geography, gender or background.
Artificial Intelligence and Deep Technology have emerged as the dominant innovation themes, accounting for the largest share of applications. The entries span breakthrough concepts across Agri, Food & Rural Economy, Health & Pharma, Education, Retail, Commerce & Consumer, Manufacturing and Industry 4.0, reflecting India’s rapidly evolving innovation ecosystem and its determination to solve real-world challenges through technology.
Equally noteworthy is the profile of participants. Women entrepreneurs, rural innovators and sustainability-driven changemakers have emerged as major contributors, reinforcing the initiative’s vision of building an innovation movement rooted in inclusivity, social impact and environmental responsibility.
Reflecting on the extraordinary response, Gautam Adani, Chairman, Adani Group, said the initiative was conceived not merely as a contest but as a belief in India’s untapped potential.
“Vande Bharatam is not a competition, it is a conviction. A conviction that the next idea to change India will not come from where it always has. We have seen innovators respond from every state of this nation and from across the world, and it has only deepened my belief: India’s greatest chapter is not being written in boardrooms. It is being written by people who were never given a room to begin with. That changes now.”
The sentiment resonates strongly with Adani’s long-held philosophy that integrity, resilience and purpose ultimately prevail—a belief often encapsulated in his unwavering mantra that truth shall prevail, despite adversity.
Expressing confidence in the country’s entrepreneurial talent, he added: “As we move forward, Vande Bharatam will provide aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs with the right opportunities, mentorship and support to transform their ideas into solutions that create meaningful impact. I extend my best wishes to every applicant and look forward to seeing many of these ideas evolve into innovations that contribute to building a stronger and more self-reliant India.”
Open to anyone with an innovative idea, prototype, early-stage venture or established enterprise, the programme invites applications through July 19, 2026.
Submissions will undergo a rigorous multi-stage evaluation based on innovation, scalability, entrepreneurial potential and societal impact. Following State and regional assessments, 75 finalists will be shortlisted for an intensive innovation residency in Ahmedabad, where they will engage with leading mentors, investors, industry experts and business leaders.
Beyond recognition and prize money, finalists will gain access to incubation support, strategic partnerships and long-term mentorship aimed at transforming promising ideas into sustainable enterprises.
The Grand Finale, scheduled around India’s Independence Day, will serve not merely as a culmination of the competition but as the launchpad for a continuing innovation ecosystem connecting entrepreneurs with investors, mentors, industry leaders and fellow changemakers.
With applications now arriving from across continents and every corner of India, Vande Bharatam is rapidly evolving into far more than a startup initiative—it is becoming a people-powered movement celebrating courage, creativity and the conviction that transformative ideas can emerge from anywhere.
