AHMEDABAD/PARIS, JULY 10

In a major stride towards decarbonising industrial manufacturing, Adani Enterprises Ltd. (AEL), the flagship company of the Adani Group, has entered into a long-term strategic partnership with French clean-tech innovator Dioxycle to establish India’s first integrated platform for producing low-carbon chemicals using captured carbon dioxide and renewable electricity.

The collaboration marks Adani Group’s entry into the emerging green chemicals sector and is expected to redefine the way essential industrial chemicals are manufactured by transforming carbon emissions into commercially valuable products through advanced electrochemical technologies.

The partnership will commence with a pilot facility at an Adani Group site to manufacture formic acid—a versatile chemical extensively used in the textile, agriculture, leather and manufacturing industries. The plant will utilise captured CO₂ and renewable electricity, demonstrating a sustainable pathway to convert industrial carbon emissions into high-value chemical products.

Following successful validation, the partners intend to scale the technology for commercial production, paving the way for a new generation of climate-friendly chemical manufacturing in India.

The alliance combines Dioxycle’s pioneering electrically driven chemical manufacturing technology with Adani Group’s renewable energy leadership, world-class infrastructure and large-scale project execution capabilities, creating a blueprint for sustainable, cost-efficient and globally competitive chemical production.

Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Group, described the initiative as a transformational step in India’s green industrial journey.

“We are proud to pilot India’s first formic acid production facility powered entirely by renewable electricity and captured carbon. This partnership with Dioxycle is a testament to how strategic industrial synergies can turn carbon liabilities into sustainable, cost-effective economic assets.”

Highlighting the global significance of the collaboration, Dr. Sarah Lamaison, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Dioxycle, said the partnership showcases how innovation and industrial scale can jointly accelerate the transition to cleaner manufacturing.

“This partnership demonstrates how clean technology and industrial scale can come together to reshape how essential chemicals are produced. India offers a unique combination of renewable energy, manufacturing capability, and ambition. Together with Adani, we aim to build a competitive and scalable model for low-carbon chemical production.”

Beyond formic acid, the two partners will jointly evaluate opportunities to manufacture a broader portfolio of low-carbon chemicals used in sectors such as energy, advanced materials, packaging and industrial manufacturing, many of which continue to depend heavily on fossil-based feedstocks and face mounting pressure to reduce carbon emissions.

For the Adani Group, the collaboration represents a strategic diversification into one of the world’s fastest-growing industrial segments, leveraging its established strengths in renewable energy, infrastructure and integrated industrial ecosystems to build future-ready businesses aligned with the global energy transition.

The agreement also underscores the strengthening partnership between India and Europe in clean technologies, with India rapidly emerging as a preferred destination for advanced sustainable manufacturing owing to its robust industrial capabilities, abundant renewable energy resources and supportive policy environment.

The initiative complements the national visions of “Make in India” and “Viksit Bharat 2047” by fostering technology-led industrial growth, enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities and accelerating India’s emergence as a global leader in sustainable and low-carbon manufacturing.
