NEW DELHI, JULY 18
In a unique opportunity that could immortalise the work of a young designer, artist or creative professional, the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, has launched a nationwide India Post Mascot Design Contest, inviting citizens to create the official mascot of one of India’s oldest and most trusted public institutions.
The winning entry will not merely receive a cash award—it will become the official brand ambassador of India Post, representing the organisation across promotional campaigns, philatelic products, exhibitions, public awareness drives, social media platforms and official communications. The initiative is expected to attract participation from students, designers, illustrators, animation enthusiasts and creative professionals from across the country.
Hosted on the Innovate India MyGov platform, the competition is open to all Indian citizens. Participants are required to submit one original mascot design, an appropriate mascot name and a brief concept note explaining the creative vision behind the entry. The contest opened on July 15 and will remain open until August 15, 2026.
To encourage widespread participation, the Department has announced total prize money of ₹2 lakh. The top three mascot designs will receive cash awards of ₹75,000, ₹50,000 and ₹25,000, while the three best mascot names will receive ₹25,000, ₹15,000 and ₹10,000, respectively. All winners will also receive certificates, with design and naming competitions being judged independently.
According to the Department, the mascot should embody the enduring values of trust, reliability, inclusivity, last-mile connectivity, customer-centric service and digital innovation, while presenting India Post as a modern organisation serving citizens across every corner of the country. The design should be original, memorable, adaptable for print, digital platforms, animation and merchandise, and appealing to children, youth and senior citizens alike. AI-generated mascot designs are discouraged, and plagiarised entries will be rejected outright.
The Department has specifically encouraged students, designers, artists and creative professionals to participate in this prestigious national initiative and contribute towards shaping the future visual identity of India Post.
The selected mascot and mascot name will become the exclusive intellectual property of the Department of Posts and will serve as the organisation’s official visual ambassador in promotional campaigns, philatelic products, exhibitions, events, social media outreach and other public communication initiatives.
Participants can submit their entries through the official Innovate India MyGov portal before August 15, 2026, after carefully reviewing the contest guidelines, eligibility criteria and technical specifications.
