In a breakthrough that could redefine emergency medicine and critical care in India, Marengo CIMS Hospitals has emerged as Gujarat’s first hospital to deploy a 24×7 Artificial Intelligence-powered remote patient monitoring ecosystem capable of predicting life-threatening cardiac emergencies—including heart attacks, heart failure and dangerous arrhythmias—well before they become medical crises. By seamlessly combining wearable biosensors, predictive AI, continuous clinical surveillance and dedicated command centres, the hospital has already saved more than 115 high-risk cardiac patients, signalling the arrival of a new era in preventive, predictive and personalised healthcare.
The advanced digital healthcare ecosystem continuously monitors patients not only within the hospital but also after discharge, during home recovery and even while they are being transported in ambulances.
Using a lightweight AI-enabled wearable biosensor, the platform continuously records vital parameters including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and other key physiological indicators in real time.
Whenever the system detects early signs of deterioration, alerts are simultaneously transmitted to the patient’s smartphone, the treating consultant and Marengo CIMS Hospitals’ dedicated 24×7 AI Monitoring Command Centre, enabling immediate medical intervention before the patient’s condition worsens.
The integrated AI platform creates an uninterrupted continuum of care—from ambulance and emergency services to intensive care units, wards and home recovery—allowing doctors to take faster, data-driven clinical decisions through early warning scores, predictive risk analysis and explainable clinical intelligence.
AI Has Already Saved Hundreds from Medical Emergencies
Sharing the remarkable outcomes, Dr. Dhiren Shah, Director, CVTS & Heart Transplant Programme, Marengo CIMS Hospital, said the institution has been using AI-enabled biosensor technology for more than two-and-a-half years.
“During this period, the hospital has monitored over 6,551 patients, successfully prevented 836 cases of patient deterioration, avoided 115 Code Blue emergencies, prevented 81 ICU transfers, and facilitated three successful life-saving CPR interventions, demonstrating the significant impact of AI-assisted continuous monitoring on patient outcomes.”
The technology is proving particularly valuable for patients suffering from heart failure, weakened cardiac function, high-risk cardiovascular disease, stroke risk, asthma and other chronic critical illnesses, enabling doctors to remotely monitor them long after discharge.
Three AI Command Centres Guard Patients Round the Clock
Responding to a question on the specialised clinical expertise required to interpret biosensor data, Dr. Dhiren Shah revealed that Marengo CIMS has built an extensive AI-backed clinical support system.
“We have three dedicated 24×7 AI Monitoring Command Centres, including one in Ahmedabad hospital. Each centre is manned by a six-member highly skilled team, which works in tandem with doctors and nurses both in the hospital and while patients are being transported by ambulance. This helps us save precious lives and brings down the treatment cost.”
He further noted that while the wearable AI monitoring system is currently available mainly in urban healthcare centres, the hospital hopes the technology will soon become accessible across rural India as well.

“This AI wearable device costs only ₹6,000 for a six-day monitoring period, while an advanced device capable of continuous monitoring for one month is also available.”
He emphasised that the platform enables doctors to detect subtle physiological changes hours—or even days—before a serious cardiac event.
“Most serious cardiac emergencies do not occur suddenly. The human body gives subtle physiological signals hours or even days before a critical event such as heart failure. Our AI-powered monitoring ecosystem enables us to identify these warning signs at the earliest stage, allowing doctors to intervene before the patient’s condition becomes critical.”
Dave added: “Over the past two-and-a-half years, this technology has helped us prevent 115 Code Blue emergencies while continuously monitoring thousands of high-risk patients.
