What better way to teach democracy than to let students practise it? At Kalorex Future School, Ghatlodia, the ballot box has gone digital, but the democratic spirit remains firmly intact. The school has once again entrusted students with the power to elect their own leaders through KFSG-DigiVote, its indigenous paperless online voting system, turning a school election into a hands-on lesson in participation, accountability and responsible leadership.
The school’s second consecutive year of using KFSG-DigiVote marked a significant step in integrating technology with democratic processes. Designed to make student elections transparent, secure and paperless, the digital platform enabled students to experience the fundamentals of an electoral process while choosing the peers they believed could represent them effectively.
The successful election culminated in the Investiture Ceremony for the academic year 2026–27, where the democratically elected Student Council and other student leaders formally assumed office.
The ceremony began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Principal Seema Mishra, in the presence of school heads, teachers and students of Grades VI to X. The newly elected Student Council members and Club Heads presented a Guard of Honour during an impressive March Past, signalling the beginning of their tenure of service.
Devendra Sharma and Hardi Patel were invested as Head Boy and Head Girl, respectively, while Hrishi Jha and Durva Nayak assumed charge as Jr. Head Boy and Jr. Head Girl. House Captains and Vice Captains representing Ashoka, Raman, Shivaji and Tagore Houses, along with leaders of the Sports, Cultural, Eco and Journalism Clubs, received their badges and ceremonial sashes before taking the oath of office.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Seema Mishra congratulated the newly elected leaders and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with “responsibility, integrity and commitment.”
The emphasis on an electoral process through KFSG-DigiVote adds a deeper dimension to the ceremony. Rather than merely appointing student representatives, the school has created an opportunity for students to understand that leadership is earned through participation and entrusted through a collective choice.
The ceremony concluded with a student dance performance, followed by the Vote of Thanks delivered by the School Head Girl and the National Anthem.
