What happens when children become teachers and parents become learners? At Kalorex Future School, Ghatlodia, the answer unfolded through a vibrant celebration where VUCA was no longer a classroom acronym but a lived experience—and gratitude became a lesson in itself. Through VUCA Day and the “Attitude of Gratitude” celebration, more than 100 parents and students stepped into interactive challenges, performances and activities designed to nurture adaptability, thoughtful decision-making, collaborative thinking and resilience.
When children take charge, learning takes a new turn
The school organised VUCA Day, an experiential learning initiative centred on Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity, transforming these concepts into hands-on experiences for students and parents.
More than 100 parents participated across four specially designed zones—Adaptability Arena, Decision Lab, Systems Studio and Innovation Hub—where students took on the role of facilitators and guided their parents through challenges.
The activities encouraged participants to respond to changing situations, make decisions under uncertainty, understand interconnected systems and approach problems with an innovative mindset.
From VUCA challenges to the power of gratitude
The learning experience took an equally meaningful turn during the Noon Shift celebration for Grades 1 to 5, which placed the spotlight on an “Attitude of Gratitude”.
Students presented a skit inspired by Yali Moral Tales, using storytelling to highlight the values of kindness and appreciation. Younger students added a cheerful musical dimension with a performance on “Thank You.”
The performances transformed gratitude from an abstract value into something children could understand, express and share.
Parents become participants, not spectators
The engagement extended beyond watching children perform. Parents actively joined the Gratitude Game Activity, making the celebration a shared learning experience across generations.
The approach reflected the school’s emphasis on experiential education, where parents and children learn alongside each other rather than remaining separate audiences.
By moving learning outside conventional classroom boundaries, VUCA Day offered participants opportunities to experience how adaptability, decision-making, systems thinking and innovation can become practical life skills.
Preparing young minds for an unpredictable world
The initiative also carried a larger message for today’s children. A rapidly changing world demands more than academic knowledge; it requires young people to remain flexible when circumstances shift, think clearly when answers are not obvious, understand complexity and respond constructively to uncertainty.
Through its combination of interactive challenges, student-led facilitation, storytelling, music and family participation, Kalorex Future School sought to make these qualities tangible and memorable.
