FUJIFILM India to showcase semiconductor materials and 0.4-nanometre CMP precision at SEMICON India 2026; Gujarat emerges as a potential manufacturing hub under June MoU
India’s semiconductor ambition is gathering momentum—but can the country build a globally competitive chip ecosystem without equally strong capabilities in the materials, chemicals and precision technologies that sit behind every advanced wafer?
That is the question FUJIFILM India will seek to address at SEMICON India 2026, where the company will showcase its semiconductor materials portfolio, global technology capabilities and localisation plans as India accelerates efforts to build an end-to-end semiconductor ecosystem.
The company will participate in India’s premier semiconductor industry exhibition from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, at Hall 1, Booth 623. Its showcase will span semiconductor materials used across multiple stages of manufacturing, with a particular focus on Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) slurry technology.
The participation assumes added significance as Fujifilm looks to deepen its engagement with India’s semiconductor ecosystem and explore opportunities to bring its global materials expertise and manufacturing capabilities closer to the domestic market.
From chips to the chemistry behind them
As India expands semiconductor manufacturing capacity, the availability of advanced materials, technical know-how and resilient supply chains is becoming as critical as fabrication infrastructure itself.
Fujifilm brings decades of expertise in materials science and a semiconductor materials portfolio covering technologies for leading-edge as well as legacy semiconductor manufacturing processes.
At SEMICON India, the company will highlight its Make in India initiatives and demonstrate its CMP slurry solutions, an area in which FUJIFILM Electronic Materials has a significant global market presence.
CMP is a critical process in semiconductor fabrication, helping achieve the extremely flat and precise surfaces required for successive layers of circuitry. The demonstration will underline how advanced material technologies can contribute to process consistency, precision and yield as chip manufacturing becomes increasingly sophisticated.
Gujarat enters Fujifilm’s semiconductor materials map
Fujifilm’s India semiconductor strategy is also acquiring a distinctly local dimension.
In June 2026, FUJIFILM India signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM) to explore opportunities for semiconductor materials manufacturing in Gujarat and strengthen domestic supply-chain capabilities.
The move comes at a time when Gujarat is positioning itself as one of India’s major semiconductor manufacturing destinations.
“India is entering an important phase in the development of its semiconductor ecosystem, and we see a meaningful opportunity to contribute through the materials technologies, expertise and global capabilities that Fujifilm has built over decades.”
FUJIFILM India Managing Director Koji Wada said the company’s participation at SEMICON India reflected its commitment to engaging with customers, government and industry partners as the ecosystem evolved.

When 0.4 nanometre becomes the headline
The technology demonstration planned for SEMICON India could offer visitors a glimpse of just how unforgiving semiconductor manufacturing has become.
Abhi Shekhar Singh, National Head – Strategy & Business Development, Electronic Materials Division, FUJIFILM India, said the exhibition would be a flagship event for the company’s electronic materials business.
“SEMICON India 2026 will be a flagship event for FUJIFILM India’s electronic materials business. Aligned with the theme ‘Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem,’ we look forward to leveraging this platform to showcase our capabilities and reinforce our role as a trusted partner in India’s growing semiconductor value chain,” Singh said.
A key attraction will be a working model demonstrating the precision of Fujifilm’s CMP slurries, capable of achieving polished circuit surface flatness within 0.4 nanometers, he said.
“I eagerly anticipate engaging with government representatives, customers, and suppliers who share our commitment to advancing India’s semiconductor ecosystem,” Singh added.
Global technology, local ecosystem
Fujifilm’s semiconductor materials business is backed by a global manufacturing network across key markets, enabling it to respond to rapidly evolving customer and technology requirements.
In India, the company is seeking to combine that global expertise with a deeper understanding of local requirements as the country develops its semiconductor manufacturing and supply-chain capabilities.
The strategy reflects a broader transformation underway in India’s semiconductor sector: the ambition is no longer simply to manufacture chips domestically, but to build an ecosystem encompassing materials, equipment, design, fabrication, packaging, testing and supply-chain resilience.
For Fujifilm, SEMICON India provides a platform to engage with semiconductor manufacturers, policymakers, suppliers and ecosystem partners while demonstrating how advanced materials can become an important building block of that ambition.
The bigger semiconductor equation
India’s semiconductor push has largely captured headlines through proposed fabrication plants, packaging facilities and chip-design capabilities. But the industry’s success will also depend on less visible—and highly specialised—inputs.
That is where semiconductor materials companies such as Fujifilm could play a strategic role.
The company’s participation at SEMICON India therefore comes at an important juncture: India is trying to move from being a major consumer of electronics to becoming a meaningful producer within the global semiconductor value chain.
