What if the CA certificate is not a reward for completing the journey, but the passport to an even bigger one? That was the powerful message emerging from Ahmedabad on Saturday, as more than 600 newly qualified Chartered Accountants from Gujarat stepped into professional life at the 12th Convocation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Ahmedabad Branch.
With Rohen Gupta, National Secretary, BJP, as Chief Guest and CA Aniket Sunil Talati, Past President, ICAI, as Guest of Honour, the ceremony at Club O7 was not merely a celebration of examination success. It became a call to the new generation of CAs to use professional competence, technology, integrity and entrepreneurial thinking to help shape India’s economic future.
The Ahmedabad ceremony was part of a nationwide convocation organised simultaneously at 23 locations, with the inaugural session from New Delhi live-streamed to all centres. Around 9,000 newly qualified CAs, including rank holders, received their Certificates of Membership across the country.
“CAs have a critical role in nation building”
Addressing the young professionals, Rohen Gupta underlined the larger responsibility that comes with the CA qualification.
He congratulated the newly qualified CAs on completing one of India’s most rigorous professional courses and stressed that their expertise must serve a purpose beyond individual career advancement.
Chartered Accountants, he said, have an important role in strengthening India’s financial and economic ecosystem and contributing to nation building, economic development, transparency and good governance.
With India undergoing rapid economic transformation and opportunities expanding across sectors, Gupta encouraged the young professionals to position themselves as trusted financial professionals, advisers and stakeholders in the country’s growth story.
His message was particularly relevant to a generation entering a professional world being reshaped by technology and innovation.
He urged the new CAs to dream big, embrace technology and continuously upgrade their skills, while never compromising on integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct.
Talati: “This is the beginning of a new journey”
For the newly qualified CAs, the message from Aniket Talati struck at the heart of what convocation really means.
Drawing on his experience as a former President of ICAI, Talati reminded them that qualification is not the conclusion of professional development—it is the beginning of a new journey.
The rapidly changing business environment, he said, would demand continuous learning and adaptability.
From technology and international business to taxation, finance, entrepreneurship and advisory services, the professional landscape is opening new avenues for Chartered Accountants.
But amid these opportunities, Talati placed ethics and professional integrity at the centre.
The CA qualification carries enormous public trust and responsibility, he reminded the young professionals, urging them to uphold the dignity of the profession, remain connected with ICAI and contribute to taking the Chartered Accountancy profession to greater heights.
Rinkesh Shah: Look beyond the conventional CA career
The Ahmedabad Branch used the occasion to underline a broader vision for the profession.
CA Rinkesh Shah, Chairman, ICAI Ahmedabad Branch, congratulated the newly qualified CAs and their families, stressing that the qualification represents much more than professional knowledge.
It signifies trust, competence, integrity and responsibility.
Shah encouraged the young professionals to explore emerging opportunities in Artificial Intelligence, technology, international taxation, GIFT City, entrepreneurship and global advisory.
His message was clear: the traditional image of a CA confined to accounts and taxation is rapidly changing.
He urged the new professionals to continuously upgrade their knowledge and build their professional identity through excellence, credibility and integrity.
From Ahmedabad to the world
The Ahmedabad Branch’s larger vision was encapsulated in its call for “Providing global opportunities to local Chartered Accountants.”
The idea is particularly significant for Gujarat, where the expansion of entrepreneurship, financial services, international business and GIFT City is creating new professional possibilities.
The young CAs were encouraged to look beyond conventional career paths, explore opportunities in India and overseas and develop capabilities that can make them competitive in an increasingly global professional marketplace.
The ambition is not simply to create successful accountants.
It is to develop trusted advisers, business leaders and economic contributors.
A certificate, a family celebration—and a responsibility
For the more than 600 newly qualified CAs participating in Ahmedabad, the ceremony represented years of examinations, practical training, perseverance and sacrifice.
Parents and family members joined senior members of the profession and ICAI office-bearers in celebrating the milestone.
Yet the day’s message went beyond applause and certificates.
The new CAs are entering a period in which artificial intelligence is transforming professional services, global businesses are increasingly interconnected and India’s economic expansion is creating new demands for sophisticated financial and strategic advice.
That makes the CA qualification both an achievement and an obligation.
From passing an examination to shaping an economy
The 12th Convocation thus offered the new generation of Chartered Accountants a simple but powerful proposition: professional success should be measured not merely by what one earns, but also by the trust one earns and the value one creates.
